Stone Camouflage. The gnome has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to hide in rocky terrain.
Gnome Cunning. The gnome has advantage on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws against magic.
Innate Spellcasting. The gnome’s innate spellcasting ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 11). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
At will: nondetection (self only)
1/day each: blindness/deafness, blur, disguise self
War Pick. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d8 + 2) piercing damage.
Poisoned Dart. Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 30/120 ft., one creature. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) piercing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Posted Jan 10, 2021Deep Gnomes make the absolute best Rogues!
The Svifneblin Magic Feat is an automatic predisposition for the ultimate stealth character. Racial traits like Stone Camouflage and Gnome Cunning also gives the Deep Gnome an overall advantage in moving through the game setting.

Posted Feb 13, 2021Aw man, you have no idea how much fun they are LOL. I have played them and now have a few as NPCs. Too ugly to play??? are you kidding me? The Deep Gnome makes a perfect Thief or Rogue/Bard and if you use any of the Gnomes as a wizard they are seriously well suited for that Class. I think you need to take the "they're always michevious and fun loving stuff' out of there and make your own back story for whichever one you decide to go with. Often my backstory is they got kicked out of their village for this reason or that, and in wandering the world got training in this or that or were just a hermit. But eventually found things about themselves or questions they want answers for that has brought them out of seclusion, etc.And now they are ready to join a crew that can serve to help them resolve whatever their own agenda is. Anyways, imo you're missing out!

Posted Jul 5, 2021Svirfneblin make a far superior Abjurer than an Illusionist. The feat they can take, Svirfneblin Magic (EEPC), allows them to cast Nondetection at will. Nondetection is a 3rd level Abjuration spell, which recharges the Arcane Ward ability of the Abjurer.
To be honest, this ability is broken beyond all imagination, and should be limited by a DM. Also, there is no requirement to even take a single Abjuration spell as an Abjurer, so you could make a great user of Illusion magic with only a slightly increased cost to write it in the spellbook.

Posted Oct 12, 2021I couldn't agree more...
I have two characters that are Deep Gnomes (one Male, one Female). If the female Deep Gnome is too ugly then she can always disguise herself to look beautiful. Because a Deep Gnome has The Svirfneblin Magic feat
Deep Gnomes cause a significant amount of concern for The Drow as Arcane Trickster Rogues. Deep Gnomes also make excellent Gloom Stalker Rangers. And there's no need to have a subclass, but it certainly doesn't hurt. .

Posted Apr 26, 2022"deep gnomes fear and despise the murderous, demon-worshiping drow the most." Heh heh, I wonder how long it takes for Wizards to think that's too much of a "hurtful blanket statement" and change it.
