Traits

Illumination. The golem magically sheds bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet. It can activate or deactivate this light as a bonus action. The light goes out when the golem is destroyed.

Immutable Form. The golem is immune to any spell or effect that would alter its form.

Light Intensity (Variant 3 Only). Any creature that starts its turn within 5 feet of the illuminated golem and can see the golem must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or be blinded until the start of the creature's next turn.
A creature can avert its eyes to avoid the saving throw at the start of its turn. If the creature does so, it can't see the golem until the start of its next turn, when it can avert its eyes again. If the creature looks at the golem in the meantime, it must immediately make the save.

Magic Resistance. The golem has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Magic Weapons. The golem's weapon attacks are magical.

Radiant Absorption. Whenever the golem is subjected to radiant damage, it takes no damage and regains a number of hit points equal to the radiant damage dealt, and its Illumination trait activates.

Actions

Multiattack. The golem makes two slam attacks.

Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d8 + 6) bludgeoning damage plus 4 (1d8) slashing damage.

Dazzle (Recharge 5–6, Variant 1 Only). The golem's facets flash with light, its Illumination trait activates, and it targets one or more creatures it can see within 10 feet of it that can see it. Each target must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw against this magic. On a failed save, a target is blinded for 1 minute. While blinded in this way, a target is also incapacitated. A target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Shard Blast (Recharge 5–6, Variant 2 Only). The golem expels jagged crystal shards in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw, taking 27 (6d8) slashing damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Description

Golems are a type of construct crafted by mortal hands and the aid of magic described in the Monster Manual. A description of golem creation can be found in the text of the Manual of Golems magic item from the Dungeon Master's Guide, allowing player characters and villains alike to employ golemcrafting to their own ends.

Esoteric Golemcraft. The following golems are made of strange and unusual materials for the art of golemcrafting. The techniques used in their creation are unconventional and require specialized magic, and the manuals describing the creation of these golems are incredibly difficult to find. They might be lurking in ancient forgotten ruins, in the dusty bookshelves of secretive inventors, or inside magical vaults full of arcane treasures. You might find one of these golems, or one of their manuals, in the possession of an archfey, a master artificer, or a celestial trader.

Constructed Nature. A golem doesn't require air, food, drink, or sleep.

Crystal Golem

Golems made out of crystal are beautiful, sparkling creations formed from angular crystal and filled with the animating power of magical light. Most are made

from ruby, sapphire, or emerald, while others are formed from gemstones as cheap as quartz or as expensive as diamond.

Seed Crystal Growth. Crystal golems cannot be carved or cut into their humanoid shape. For the golem to animate successfully, it must be grown directly into its final shape. To form this crystal, the golemcrafter begins with a hoard of gemstones and places them in a carefully constructed framework within a container filled with crystalline liquid. The gemstones serve as seeds for the body of the golem, forming more crystal layer upon layer until the entire golem has grown out of the liquid. After that, the golemcrafter uses esoteric magic to imbue animating light inside the golem.

Alien Sentinels. Crystal golems are mysterious and alien-minded. They often respond in unexpected ways to relatively-simple commands. Some scholars theorize that the methods for creating a crystal golem originated in the Far Realm and thus diverge from the normal world. Others believe the design for crystal golems was inspired by the angels of the celestial realm and have an elevated, divine perspective.

Creation. A crystal golem can be created using its own variety of Manual of Golems. Creating a crystal golem takes 45 days and gemstones worth 150,000 gp.

Crystal Golem Variants

Some crystal golems can spew crystal shards as projectiles. Those golems use the statistics for crystal golems except that they have the following action instead of Dazzle.

Shard Blast (Recharge 5–6). The golem expels jagged crystal shards in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw, taking 27 (6d8) slashing damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Other crystal golems emit blinding light at a constant rate instead of flashing with dazzling brilliance. Those golems use the statistics for crystal golems except that they have the following trait instead of the Dazzle action.

Light Intensity.
