Spider Climb. The spider can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.

Web Sense. While in contact with a web, the spider knows the exact location of any other creature in contact with the same web.

Web Walker. The spider ignores movement restrictions caused by webbing.

Actions

Multiattack: Zhen'qeq makes two attacks: one with her bite and one with her claws

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) piercing damage, and the target must make a DC 11 Constitution saving throw, taking 9 (2d8) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If the poison damage reduces the target to 0 hit points, the target is stable but poisoned for 1 hour, even after regaining hit points, and is paralyzed while poisoned in this way.

Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) piercing damage.

Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 16 (3d8 + 3) bludgeoning damage, and the target must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw, being knocked prone on a fail.

Web (Recharge 5–6). Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 30/60 ft., one creature. Hit: The target is restrained by webbing. As an action, the restrained target can make a DC 12 Strength check, bursting the webbing on a success. The webbing can also be attacked and destroyed (AC 10; hp 5; vulnerability to fire damage; immunity to bludgeoning, poison, and psychic damage).

Acid Spray (Recharge 6): The queen spits acid in a line that is 30 ft. long and 5 ft. wide. Each creature in that line must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw, taking 14 (4d6) acid damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Legendary Actions

Zhen'qeq can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the option below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The giant regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Webspit (5-6): Zhen'qeq screeches and barrages spiderwebs in a 20ft circle. Players within the range have to make a DC 14 Strengt check. On a failt, the players are restrained and take 2D6 cold damage. Additionally, the webs are covered in small spiders. On a fail a swarm of small spiders is summoned on the player. On a succesful save, the player is not restrained and take no damage. A spiider swarm is summoned five from the player. The webbing can also be attacked and destroyed (AC 13; hp 7; vulnerability to fire damage; immunity to bludgeoning, poison, and psychic damage).

Falling spider webs (4-6): Spider webs fall from the icy ceiling. Every player within the layer must make a DC 12 DEX check to avoid them. On a filed safe, the player is considered restrained. Target can make a DC 12 STR check at the start of their turn to get free. The webbing can also be attacked and destroyed (AC 13; hp 7; vulnerability to fire damage; immunity to bludgeoning, poison, and psychic damage).

Egg Sack. The queen may lay an egg sack on the floor or adhered with webbing to another surface. This egge sack will hatch at the beginning of the next round.

Move. The queen moves up to its speed without provoking Opportunity Attacks.

Shoot Web (costs 2 actions). The queen will shoot a thick webbing rope towards the ceiling, allowing for 60 feet of vertical movement (either ascending or descending) wihtout provoking opportunity attacks.

Cocoon (costs 2 actions). The queen may choose a restrained creature within 5 feet of her and force it to make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw, or be paralyzed and wrapped in a web cocoon (AC 13; hp 14; vulnerability to fire damage; immunity to bludgeoning, poison, and psychic damage).

Description

To snare its prey, Zhen'qeq spins elaborate webs or shoots sticky strands of webbing from its abdomen. Zhen'qeq favors a cold, dark and underground surrounding, making its lair hard to traverse and covered in webs on ceilings or in dark, web-filled crevices. Such lairs are often festooned with web cocoons holding past victims.

Lair and Lair Actions

Deep into the mountain caverns lays the ice home of Zhen'qeq, a creature as old as the mountain range. The cavern walls are littered with frozen spider webs, where her food awaits their devouring, sometimes for years. Her territory is swarmed by her children, smaller ice spiders. All of it is engulfed in complete darkness and due to some magical reason, any light source gets weakened within the cavern. Zhen'qeq's resting place is engulfed with spider eggs and hols on the ceiling through which Zhen'qeq can transport herself.

  • Curtain of webs: Zhen'qeq's lair is covered in webs, making it difficult terrain. Additionally, vision is reduced by the thick curtains of spider webs.
  • Hide (4-6)As a free action, Zhen'qeq can move her maximun movement speed in order to hide in one of the ceiling tunnels
  • Zhen'qeq devours all light in the area, creating a 15 feet radius sphere of magical darkness, as if she'd cast the Darkness spell, extinguishing all open flames in a 60 feet radius.
  • If there's a corpse in a web cacoon within 60 feet of the Queen, it will be risen as a Web Mummy.
  • Every egg sack within a 120 feet radius of the queen will hatch.
  • Every web in the lair is connected, and the Queen can use them to make a Wisedom (Perception) check or send a distress signal to other members of the colony.
