Actions

Multiattack. Shuva makes one Bite attack and one Tail Stinger attack.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 27 (4d10+5) piercing damage.

Tail Stinger. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d8+5) piercing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or become poisoned. While poisoned in this way, the target is also paralyzed. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Fire Breath (Recharge 5–6). Shuva exhales fire in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw, taking 35 (10d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Bonus Actions

Swift Rampage. When Shuva reduces a creature to 0 hit points with a melee attack on her turn, she can move up to half her speed and make one Bite attack.

Reactions

Retaliatory Rampage. When Shuva takes damage, she makes one bite attack against a random creature within her reach, other than her master.

Description

Campaign: Dungeons of Drakkenheim

Shuva is a huge quadrupedal demon with the body of a giant hyena, a tail like that of a wyvern, and the fiery breath of a hellhound. Yeenoghu gifted her to the Lord of the Feast when his warband captured Saint Vitruvio's Cathedral and extinguished its brazier. The extinguished flame created a billowing, fetid cloud of smoke and Shuva prowled out of it as she emerged from the Abyss. In battle, the demon wraps her slavering jaws around one victim while lashing out with the venomous stinger on her tail to bring down another. A creature immobilized by the poison becomes easy pickings for any nearby garmyr.

Shuva is bonded to The Lord of the Feast and either fights alongside her master or serves him as a mount. The Lord of the Feast often feeds prisoners and defiant garmyr to Shuva, referring to them as "sacrifices to Yeenoghu's hunger".

Lair and Lair Actions

The Haze is functionally the lair of all monsters within Drakkenheim.

  • Fully Contaminated. This creature is immune to contamination, and has advantage on saving throws against contaminated spells.
  • Haze Adaptation. This creature may benefit from a long rest finished within the Haze. It can see twice as far through the Haze mists and Deep Haze fog.
  • Haze Dependence. This creature gains one level of exhaustion for every twenty four hours it spends outside the Haze. These exhaustion levels cannot be removed while the creature is outside the Haze.
  • Delerium Healing. As an action, a monster can touch a delerium shard to regain 10 (3d6) hit points. Once a monster has used a delerium shard in this way, the shard can’t be used in this manner again for twenty four hours.
