Ice Walk. The frost drake can move across and climb icy surfaces without needing to make an ability check. Additionally, difficult terrain composed of ice or snow doesn't cost it extra movement.
Snowsight. A frost drake can see perfectly in snowy conditions and does not take penalties on Perception checks.
Multiattack. The frost drake makes three attacks: one with its bite or tail and two with its claws.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d6 + 5) piercing damage plus 4 (1d8) cold damage.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (1d10 + 5) slashing damage.
Tail Spike. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 10 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 4) piercing damage.
Freezing Mist Breath (Recharge 5-6): The frost drake sprays a 40ft. cone of freezing liquid that leaves a cloud of freezing mist. Each creature in that area must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw, taking 32 (6d8) cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The mist cakes all surfaces in the area with a sheet of slippery ice that turns the area into difficult terrain for 2d4 rounds, after which the ice cracks or melts enough to revert to the normal terrain of the area.
Description
Frost Drake are distant relatives of white dragons and are quite ferocious predators, also being one of the smallest of all drakes. Frost drakes establish their lairs in frigid climes, arctic areas or snowcapped mountain ranges. Frost drakes lack the cunning and tactics of most other drakes. However, their bestial nature makes them singularly focused on surviving, reproducing, and slaughtering their enemies. Juvenile frost drake hatch being pure white with a light blue stripe going down the frills on their back ending at their tail, their color will become duller as they age turning from a pure white to light grey. Their head is adorned with three horns, two of which come down to the sides of their mouth and one on top of their head angled backward.
Abilities and Weaknesses. Their skin is coated in a layer of ice that acts like armor. This ice armor is able to move to give the frost drake a normal range of motion. They are vulnerable to fire damage making fire drakes one of their most formidable adversaries. Frost drakes have weak wings only allowing them to fly continuously for about 30 minutes but are able to climb with a powerful pair of claws located in the middle of their wings. They also have strong rear legs to support their superior climbing ability and long flexible tails with a spike on the end.
Pack Creatures. Being one of the smaller species of drake they often form hunting packs during their early years of life and stay with the pack well into their adult years. While in these packs adult drakes find their mate and will leave the pack when this happens. Frost drakes mate for life and will take care of their young together. The male drake normally does most of the hunting and defense of the nest, while the female takes care of the young and guards the treasure hoard. Female frost drakes tend to be larger than males, they can be identified by a light blue underbelly.
