Traits

 Curse of Rot. Any healing effects/spells will seem to visibly revitalize the Undead Puppeteer, but will actually deal radiant damage.

 

Actions

Multiattack. The Undead Puppeteer makes two attacks with its chains.

Chain. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 30 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage. The target is grappled (escape DC 14) if the Undead Puppeteer isn't already grappling a creature. Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained and takes 7 (2d6) piercing damage at the start of each of its turns.

Blinding Spittle (Recharge 2). The Undead Puppeteer spits a chemical glob from the mouth on its back at a point behind it within 20 feet of it. The glob explodes in a blinding flash of light on impact. Each creature within 15 feet of the flash must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or be blinded until the end of the Undead Puppeteers next turn.

Bonus Actions

 Swing. The Undead Puppeteer throws it's weapon and sticks it into or around a inanimate and sturdy object within attack range. It then can use it's movement to swing to any location within double it's movement speed. If the creature moves >/= it's remaining movement speed during this action it cannot move again on that turn.

Reactions

Unnerving Scream. When a creature enters or leaves the Undead Puppeteer's melee range it lets out a scream using multiple voices at once. All creatures that can hear the Undead Puppeteer must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened until the end of its next turn.

Legendary Actions

Last Resort. The Undead Puppeteer can choose to sacrifice it's remaining hit points in order to explode into a cloud of red mist, filling a 30ft by 30ft cube for 1 hour. Any living creatures that breath in the red mist must pass a dc 17 con save. On a failure the creature coughs up a large amount of blood and can feel tiny creatures crawling inside of their throats/lungs. Creatures who failed the first con safe or creatures that remain in the mist for too long must make another dc 17 con save. If a creature fails two con saves then their bodies go numb and a large pustule forms on their back and begins leaking. They then lose 10 int and 10 wis and feel a compulsion to find a dark isolated location to sleep in. If not killed the creatures who failed will slowly transform into copies of the Undead Puppeteer over the course of 1 month. If multiple transform successfully only one will retain sentience and the others will simply rot away.

Description

A humanoid creature in tattered baggy clothing. It's body is covered in lacerations and it has spike covered chains rapped around each of it's arms. The chains burrow into its skin on one end and on the other are attached to blades. On the creatures back, just between the shoulder blades is a fleshy, bloody and infected maw.
