Maddening Gaze. The chimera's hood features as multitude of eyes that fixate on any creature that approaches it. Each creature that starts its turn within 20 feet of the chimera or enters this range and can see it must make a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw. Unless the save succeeds, the creature rolls a d8 to determine what it does during the current turn. Once a creature succeeds on this save, they are immune to it for the duration of time that they remain within range of the effect. The chimera can choose to spread or conceal its hood as a bonus action, ending the effect of its maddening gaze when the hood is concealed. 

1–4: The creature is stunned until the end of the turn.

5–6: The creature is frightened until the end of the turn and uses its movement to get as far as possible from the chimera.

7–8: The creature used its action to fall prone and grovel before the chimera, then ends its turn.

Innate Spellcasting. The chimera's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 16). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: detect magic, see invisibility

1/day: counterspell

2/day: dispel magic

Magic Resistance. The chimera has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Actions

Multiattack. The nullifier makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.

Bites. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 17 (2d12 + 4) piercing damage plus 11 (2d10) poison damage.

Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage plus 11 (2d10) force damage.

Description

A tall, bipedal creature with a cobra-like head and long muscular arms, Undorlean Chimeras are the mad creation of Master Perenzien Bezerith, an Archmage of the School of Enchantment obsessed with controlling and taming creatures of great power as instruments of warfare. Part of his research included the creation of different chimeras, hybrids between monstrosities infused with the magical powers of fiends. The Undorlean Chimera is designed to be a bane to magic users, with their physical forms and innate powers shaped specifically to detect, resist, and cancel magical effects. Even should it encounter a party of melee combatants, the chimera's powerful build and maddening gaze makes it a difficult opponent to face.
