Tentacles. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5ft., One target. Hit: 5 (1d8 + 3) [Psychic] damage. If the target is Medium or smaller, it is grappled (escape DC: 14) and must succeed on a DC:14 Intelligence saving throw or be stunned until this grapple ends.
Alien Disruption - Recharge 5. The Writhe Mind emits a twisted, unknowable psychic scream in a 20ft radius sphere around them. Each creature must succeed on a DC: 14 Intelligence saving throw or take 12 (2d8+3) Psychic damage and be stunned for 1 turn.
Description
The Writhe Mind is an ancestor species of the Illithid. During the events of the Starless War, the Illithid empire devolved into civil war. Some elder brains decided to ally themselves with the Demon Lord Elgraz, succumbing to the unmatched power of the hells and the abyss united. While others decided to flee the conflict, allow those that fight against elgraz and the demon himself to destroy each other and then claim the people of the world when the conflict is ended. Those that fled would find themselves trapped in the place between reality. Far outside of their planescape, beyond the astral sea. There they roamed for uncounted years and they changed. Their minds and bodies ravaged and twisted beyond understanding becoming a creature we now call a Writhe Mind.
