Traits

Amphibious. The wyvern turtle can breathe air and water.

Actions

Multiattack. The wyvern turtle makes 2 attacks: 1 with its bite and 1 with its claws.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: 1d20+8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2d8+5 piercing damage.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: 1d20+8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1d12+5 slashing damage.

Steam Breath (Recharge 5–6). The wyvern turtle exhales scalding steam in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, taking 7d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Being underwater doesn't grant resistance against this damage.

Description

The wyvern turtle got its name from being a sort of offspring of the dragon turtle. While this species isn't actually born from dragon turtles, they are considered close relatives in the same way regular dragons are to wyverns.

The usual wyvern turtle has short legs and arms that are similar to a tortoise with claws, and a sharp beak that is used to snap down on prey. It tends to be turquoise in color but has a wide variety of pigmentations such as crimson and yellow. The wyvern turtle is also known to be more vicious than the dragon turtle, usually giving into its animalistic instincts, even though they share a similar intelligence to dragon turtles.

Wyvern turtles are not only known as ferocious dragons, but have also played integral roles in society, from helping local communities with menial tasks, to saving fisherman from a violent storm near beach shores.

Wyvern turtles enjoy making their homes in shaded areas with plenty of water around it, usually choosing beach caves or damp forests as their main place of living. As long as they are given enough water to bathe in, they do not mind sharing the water with towns and villages, as long as they keep the streams clean.
