Traits

Incorporeal Movement. The Wraith Queen can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. It takes 5 (1d10) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object.

Sunlight Sensitivity. While in sunlight, the Wraith Queen has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

Actions

Life Drain. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 21 (4d8 + 3) necrotic damage. The target must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or its hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the damage taken. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0.

Create Specter. The Wraith Queen targets a humanoid within 10 feet of it that has been dead for no longer than 1 minute and died violently. The target's spirit rises as a specter in the space of its corpse or in the nearest unoccupied space. The specter is under the wraith's control. The Wraith Queen can have no more than seven specters under its control at one time.

Longbow of Rotten Necrosis: Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, range 150/600 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) piercing damage. As a bonus action, for any target successfully killed with the longbow, the wraith can resurrect them as a zombie, though they lack access to their skills and class abilities. The Wraith Queen can have no more than three zombies under its control at one time.

Reactions

Icy Touch. If grappled, the Wraith Queen can roll Attack: [roll]1d20+1[/roll] Damage: [roll](if([roll:-1:critical], =0, 1, 2{1}.expand()))+2[/roll] cold damage onto its target.

Description

Once a beautiful young maiden, she was set to marry a lordling whose domain was on the shores of the Moonsea. Ever envious of her ability with a bow, her betrothed's sister hatched a scheme to poison her. Lacing her beloved bow with a deadly toxin, the lady challenged the maiden to an archery contest, to which she accepted. Upon grabbing her bow however, the maiden collapsed, blood coming out of her orifices as the poison took effect. So enraged by her betrayal that she rose as a wraith and slew her killer, along with the rest of the assorted nobles, her fiancé included. Now trapped in her lover's crumbling keep, she silently waits for those who would tread into its halls, bow in hand.

She is hauntingly beautiful, clad in the tattered remains of her wedding gown, a wreath of dead white roses in her hair and wielding bow of rotting wood, the bow she cherished in life.

Lair and Lair Actions

The lair of the Wraith Queen is a crumbling structure on the northern shores of the Moonsea. Once a beautiful cathedral, the castle has fallen to ruin in the centuries since the death of its inhabitants, and is haunted by their ghosts.

Entrances. There is but one entrance to the lair, all the others being blocked off years ago by rubble and ruin. The main entrance leads to the throne room, covered in the tattered remains of its past glory.

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the Wraith Queen can take a lair action to cause one of the following magical effects; the Wraith Queen can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:

  • The Wraith Queen targets one creature it can see within 30 feet of it. A crackling cord of negative energy tethers the Wraith Queen to the target. Whenever the Wraith Queen takes damage, the target must make a DC 10 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the Wraith Queen takes half the damage (rounded down), and the target takes the remaining damage. This tether lasts until initiative count 10 on the next round or until the Wraith Queen or the target is no longer in the Wraith Queen's lair.
  • The Wraith Queen calls forth the spirits of creatures that died in its lair. These apparitions materialize and attack one creature that the Wraith Queen can see within 60 feet of it. The target must succeed on a DC 10 Constitution saving throw, taking 12 (2d6) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a success. The apparitions then disappear.
