Petrifying Bite. The Yar'ara can make an attack at a non detected or surprise round opportunity and the target has to make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature magically begins to turn to stone and takes poison damage every turn and is restrained. It must repeat the saving throw at the end of its next turn. On a success, the effect ends but the poison remains acting. On a failure, the creature is petrified until freed by the greater restoration spell or other magic.

The venom takes 2d6 of damage each turn.

A creature that isn't surprised can avert its bite to avoid the saving throw at the start of its turn.

Hunting ritual. Once they have identified their prey, they hit it and inject venom. They immediately release the prey so that it cannot fight back while strangling it. If the bitten prey walks away, poisoned, the Yar'ara uses its vision to find it stalking it until the poison is cured or removed.

With its strong jaws, the creature consumes this stone, which returns to organic form in its gullet. It has a particular way of hunting.
