Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the dragon fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
Multiattack. The dragon can use its Frightful Presence. It then makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 19 (2d10 + 8) piercing damage .
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d6 + 8) slashing damage.
Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (1d8 + 8) bludgeoning damage.
Frightful Presence. Each creature of the dragon’s choice that is within 120 feet of the dragon and aware of it must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature’s saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the dragon’s Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours.
Radiant Breath(Recharge 5–6).. The dragon exhales blinding radiant energy in an 80-foot line that is 5 feet wide. Each creature in that area must make a DC 20 Constitution saving throw, taking 49 (9d10) radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. On a fail of 5 or more, the creature is also blinded until the start of the dragon's next turn.
Stunning Breath(Recharge 6).. The dragon exhales gas in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 20 Constitution saving throw or be stunned for 1 round. On a fail of 5 or more, the creature is instead stunned until it succeed the saving throw, repeating at the end of its turn.
The dragon can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The dragon regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Detect. The dragon makes a Wisdom (Perception) check.
Tail Attack. The dragon makes a tail attack.
Wing Attack (Costs 2 Actions). The dragon beats its wings. Each creature within 10 feet of the dragon must succeed on a DC 22 Dexterity saving throw or take 15 (2d6 + 8) bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone. The dragon can then fly up to half its flying speed.
Description
Adamant dragons, otherwise known as adamantine dragons breathe radiant energy. An adamant dragon has silvery to dark gray scales, and its silhouette is defined by tall spines covering its neck and back.
Lair and Lair Actions
An Adamant Dragon’s Lair
Adamant dragons can be found lairing in most types of terrain, but they typically live in colder regions with a preference towards mountains. In mountains, the dragons sometimes build lairs underground, using burrowing ability to create tunnels. However, the dragons prefer sunlight over dark places, and thus often have shafts in their lairs that allow the light in or otherwise have magically lit lairs.
Lair Actions
On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the dragon takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; the dragon can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:
- Blinding radiant light bursts from the ceiling in a place that the dragon can see within 90 feet of it. Each creature in a cylinder centered on that point (reaches to the floor and is 10 feet wide) must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, becoming blinded until initiative count 20 next round on a failed save.
- Light flares off of the dragon. Each creature within 30 feet of it takes 10 (3d6) radiant damage.
Regional Effects
The region containing a legendary adamantine dragon’s lair is warped by the dragon’s magic, which creates one or more of the following effects:
- The sun is out unusually often on most days within 6 miles of the lair, leading to fair weather.
- Water sources within 1 mile of the lair are warm and pure, tasting mildly sweet.
- Once per day, the dragon can cast control weather in the area within 3 miles of the lair, altering the weather as it wishes.
If the dragon dies, the weather returns to normal after 1d10 hours and any water instantly reverts to normal.
