Shielded Forearms. The beast has extra hard natural armor on its firearms which it can whip up as a reaction to reduce damage by 1d4+2.

Laceral Tail. The beast has a long, jagged tail that it can strike with when attackers are busy. As a reaction, when any creature within 5 ft of this beast is hit with a melee attack, it can use its reaction to strike the attacker before they have a chance to recover from attacking. This strike has +6 and advantage to hit (unless the dm says otherwise), and deals 2d4+2 slashing damage.
