Traits

Innate Spellcasting. The wyvern's innate spellcasting ability is Wisdom(spell save DC 15, +7 to hit with spell attacks). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

  • At will: Tongues.
  • 5/day each: Dispel Magic, Enhance Ability.

Legendary Resistance(3/day). If the wyvern fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Spellcasting. The wyvern is a 6th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Wisdom(spell save DC 15, +7 to hit with spell attacks). The wyvern has the following spells prepared:

  • Cantrips(at will): Acid Splash, Light, Poison Spray.
  • 1st level(4 slots): Ceremony, Chaos Bolt, Expeditious Retreat, Hellish Rebuke.
  • 2nd level(3 slots): Blur, Mirror Image, See Invisibility.
  • 3rd level(3 slots): Fireball, Speak with Dead, Wall of Sand.
Actions

Multiattack: The Wyvern makes three attacks, one with its Bite and two with its Claws.

Bite: Melee weapon attack, +14 to hit, reach 15ft, one target. Hit 18(2d8+9) piercing damage.

Claw: Melee weapon attack, +14 to hit, reach 10ft, one target. Hit 16(2d6+9) slashing damage and the target starts bleeding for 3 rounds. While bleeding, the target rolls 1d6 and subtracts that number from their hit point maximum at the start of each of their turns. A bleeding target is also Poisoned in this way. The bleed damage can stack, up to a maximum of 5d6 per turn. This effect ends after 5 rounds and restarts once the wyvern hits a bleeding target with its claws.

Tail: Melee weapon attack, +14 to hit, reach 15ft, one target. Hit 18(2d8+9) piercing damage. The target must then make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, taking 31(7d8) poison damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. This attack is made with advantage against creatures Poisoned by the wyvern.

Legendary Actions

The wyvern can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The wyvern regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Detect: The wyvern makes a Wisdom(Perception) check.

Tail Attack: The wyvern makes a Tail attack.

Agonizing Toxin(Cost 2 Actions): The wyvern amplifies the poison in its prey's veins. Each creature of the wyvern's choice within 60ft of it that is Poisoned by the wyvern begins to bleed for 3 rounds, suffering the effects of the bleeding condition stated in its Claw attack.

Description

Yellowjacket Wyverns are among one of the most intelligent and dangerous wyverns of Rhymorra. Capable of defeating a Jaranath, or Jaw Drake, with ease using the one thing the Jaw Drake doesn't have; flight. Yellowjacket Wyverns are slightly more social than most other Wyvern species and prefer to hang around mountains or cities. They are best known for their long tails and necks and are one of the longest specimens of their size category, measuring up to 30ft in length.

Yellowjacket Wyverns have extremely potent venom and sharp claws, able to inflict dangerous bleed damage on their prey. Yellowjacket Wyverns have no stinger at the end of their tail, instead having a long, needle-like barb in place of a stinger. With this barb at the end of a long whip-like tail, the Yellowjacket Wyvern is a dangerous adversary. However, unlike all other wyverns in Rhymorra, Yellowjacket Wyverns are more open to socialization, preferably in their favorite tongue of Giant. They can understand and speak most languages through their spellcasting, which they have picked up over the years.

Yellowjacket Wyverns get their name from the black and yellow stripes running down their bodies and their transparent wings that resemble that of an insect. They absolutely adore reptilian races and are more likely to socialize with them as opposed to humans or amphibious races, as they primarily feed on creatures like the Giant Salamander and in some cases, Murlocs.
