Description
Forest Wyverns are the smallest of all wyverns. They are slim and agile, with scales of varying shades of green and brown that help them hide and hunt in their forest homes.
Territorial. Forest Wyverns are fiercely territorial. They usually stay in the same place all of their lives, growing up with their mother, hunting, and sometimes even mating in the same place. Wyverns always know who and what are in their territory, stalking and even confronting creatures who pose a threat or hazard. They compete with griffons, rocs, and manticores for food and land.
One With Nature. Forest wyverns have a connection to nature that enhances their senses and makes them the only of their kin to be able to cast spells. They use their spells mostly defensively. This connection also helps them get along well with fey and nature creatures. Forest wyverns will often protect elves and sometimes other creatures who live peacefully on the wyvern's territory, sometimes even serving as a mount to those with aligned goals.
Family Land. Wyvern territories can have several related wyverns living together or alongside one another. Wyvern territories can hold anywhere from one to twenty wyverns. This helps the wyverns keep predators and other more powerful competitors away. These groups or clans do not have a designated alpha or leader like in other social animals. However, Wyvern females only mate every ten years, raising the young until it becomes an adult. If the territory is full the adult might travel to find a mate and establish a new territory and its own clan.
