Avoidance. If the Yanlani hunter is subjected to an effect that allows it to make a saving throw to take only half damage, it instead takes no damage if it succeeds on the saving throw, and only half damage if it fails.
Charge. If the Yanlani hunter moves at least 20 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with a gore attack on the same turn, the target takes an extra 9 (2d8) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Displacement. The Yanlani hunter projects a magical illusion that makes it appear to be standing near its actual location, causing attack rolls against it to have disadvantage. If it is hit by an attack, this trait is disrupted until the end of its next turn. This trait is also disrupted while the hunter's chimera is incapacitated or has a speed of 0.
Keen Hearing and Smell. The Yanlani hunter has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.
Multiattack. The Yanlani hunter can make three attacks: two with its winter wolf and displacer beast bite and one with its aurochs gore. It can replace the two bites with a cold breath attack.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d6 + 5) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Gore. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) piercing damage.
Cold Breath (Recharge 5–6). The winter wolf head of the Yanlani hunter exhales a blast of freezing wind in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, taking 18 (4d8) cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Description
Yanla University in Alacria began running top secret experiments where they tried creating their own chimeric creations meant to serve specific purposes. The Yanlani hunter was created and bred to work as guards, war mounts, and, as their namesake implies, hunters for members of the Royal Guard. The wizards at Yanla were successful in their ambitions, creating a large beast with the body and head of an aurochs, the head and avoidance ability of a displacer beast, and the head and vicious breath of a winter wolf. Domestication of the Yanlani hunter was possible in some capacity, but the success rate was incredibly low due to its both skittish and violent temperament. Further tests proposed more selective processes in determining which beasts to fused together in order to create a more tame, usable creature.
With the fall of Alacria, the abominations of Yanla have escaped and are hungry, full of hate and pain from the experiments conducted on them in order to transform them into the monstrosities they now are.
