Keen Sense. This creature has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on the sense of smell, as well as Wisdom (Survival) checks made to track creatures that it has smelled.
Soft Bellied. If this creature receives damage from a direction below it, such that the damage affects this creature's belly directly, that damage ignores this creature's resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical sources.
Multiattack. This creature may choose three different attacks to perform from the list below.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 14 (3d8 + 4) [piercing] damage. When a creature smaller than this creature is hit by this attack, they must succeed a Strength saving throw (DC 15) or be grappled by this creature. If this creature bites the target again on subsequent turns, the attack automatically hits if the target is still grappled in this way. While grappling a creature in this way, this creature may not bite a different target.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 4) [slashing] damage.
Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., 1 target. Hit: 14 (3d8 + 4) [bludgeoning] damage.
Spines. Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 30/60 ft., 1 target. Hit: 6 (2d6 + 1) [piercing] damage.
Sniff. This creature may make a Wisdom (Perception) or Wisdom (Survival) check as a bonus action, using only it's sense of smell.
Trawl. If this creature is in a wet environment, such as a swamp or a body of water, it may use a bonus action to move up to half of its movement speed.
Description
Six-legged creature at least 20 feet long, with thick brownish-green scales. It's nearly as long as an adult balolex, but it is squatter and lacks a lifetime of built musculature and stored fat. Almost half it's body length is dedicated to a whip-like tail, fluttering with spines that grow larger as they run up the creature's back. It's head is funnel-shaped, with a long, thin snout that protrudes beyond its mandible. This snout has tooth-like protrusions across the sides, similar to a sawtooth shark, but is notably pocked with hundreds of small nostrils. A long dark blue tongue occasionally licks flecks of mud off the surface of its two eyes, which are dominated by triangular pupils beneath what seem to be thick cataracts. Webbed and clawed feet lead up to short legs relative to its size, on which the creature stumbles somewhat awkwardly. These legs lead to a soft underbelly that seems covered in something more skin-like than the rest of the creature.
