Photokinesis. The nightling is surrounded by a shroud of darkness that makes it almost impossible to see in low-light conditions.  The nightling is invisible in dim light or darkness.

Description

A gaunt, vaguely humanoid shape surrounded by a field of pitch darkness, the zombie nightling stays within the shadows where it can, a faint gasping noise escaping its lips.  Sometimes, when it flails about, a flash of its two-inch claws can be seen.

 

Nightlings are a variant of magically-enhanced zombie, capable of bending light around themselves to be constantly in darkness, which makes them extremely dangerous in dark areas.  Nightlings are also smarter than the average zombie, and know to remain in the shadows.  Some of the smarter ones even extinguish light sources whenever they can for easier hunting.
