Poison Absorption. Whenever the shambling mound is subjected to poison or acid damage, it takes no damage and regains a number of hit points equal to the damage dealt.
Multiattack. The shambling mound makes two vine whip slam attacks. If both attacks hit a Medium or smaller target, the target is grappled (escape DC 14), and the shambling mound may use its Engulf on it unless otherwise directed by creator.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage.
Engulf. The shambling mound engulfs a Medium or smaller creature grappled by it. The engulfed target is blinded, restrained, and unable to breathe, and it must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw at the start of each of the mound’s turns or take 13 (2d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage. If the mound moves, the engulfed target moves with it. The mound can have only one creature engulfed at a time.
Description
Victim appearanceand growth stage:
1 day: The curse beginss a dark green splotch over the heart, surrounded by red, irritated skin. Green tendrils will begin to spread throughout the inside body, and the blood will begin to thicken. The victims movement speed will slow by 5 feet every 24 hours.
1 week: When speed drops to 0, victim will become incapacitated but retain ability to think and speak. Roots will break out of skin wherever ground is touching. Sprout will burst out of chest and begin to bud.
1 month: At this point, the plant will be becoming to big to sustain itself on just nutrients from the roots. The bud will have grown into a pitcher plant, which will lure in bugs, birds and rodents with the victims sickly-sweet smelling blood sap. Hollow vines will connect pitcher to open mouth, dropping liquified catches in for nutrition. Once vines form, victim will be unable to speak but can still think independantly.
6 Months: Various creeping vines coated in skin sprout from body. Pitcher plant is maturing, and able to allocate about half of the nutrients without the use of the hosts mouth and digestive tract. Victims thoughts are slowed substantially as cordyceps consume brain matter.
1 year. Pitcher is fully matured, transformation is complete. Plant and host are now one, remaining flesh and tissue will be consumed or transformed into vines. Bones and skull will remain entangled in vines around pitcher. Plant can now move at speed of 5 feet per round and use vines to grapple and drag victims into pitcher.
Plant grows one size every 5 years.
Vines are original hosts skin color, with thick, red sap and dark green viens. Plant is composed of one lage pitcher, sprawling vines, and a mobile root network.
