Innate Spellcasting. 

The Zaritas's innate spellcasting ability is Constitution (spell save DC 12). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material component:

  • At will: mending, mold earth, thorn whip.

  • spellcasting ability modifier/day: entangle

Regeneration. The Zaritas regains a number of hit points equal to it's constitution modifier at the start of its turn. If the Zaritas takes acid or fire damage, this trait doesn't function at the start of the Zaritas's next turn. The Zaritas dies only if it starts its turn with 0 hit points and doesn't regenerate.

Sharp Splinters. Creatures Restrained by this Creature recieve damage at the start of their turn and whenever they take an action, bonus action or reaction, use half or more of their movement or take damage from other sources equal to this creature's constitution modifier as the splinters dig into their body. This effect lasts while they are restrained and for 1d4 rounds after they are no longer restrained.

Sylvan Fortitude. If damage reduces the Zaritas to 0 hit points, it must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC of 5 + the damage taken, unless the damage is Acid, Fire or from a critical hit. On a success, the Zaritas drops to 1 hit point instead.

Actions

Branches. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target that is not restrained. Hit: 4 (1d4+2) piercing damage. A creature hit by this attack becomes restrained by the parts of branches left around it after impact. As an action, the restrained creature can make a DC 12 Strength Check breaking off the branches and freeing itself on a success, this Strength Check is made at disadvantage if the attack that restrained the creature was a critical hit.

Description

Zaritas are rare small plants brought to life by forest spirits, with rapidly extending limbs they use to protect themselves. Normally Zaritas are peacefull and won't pick a fight with bypassers, often just running when faced with the option to either fight or flee. Zaritas heve very frail branches that tend to shatter apart easily with a surprisingly sturdy stem, regrowing rapidly any lost branch outward from the trunk and subdividing the new branches(often resulting in dense branch clouds around itself due to constant breakage), and won't really perish if not met with fire or corrosive materials. Zaritas can also detatch parts of their roots and use them as a last resort to bind and immobilize threats in order to buy them time to flee or end the threat then and there. If cornered, Zaritas can use their long branches to impede a predator's advances in hopes of poking it until if gives up on wasting it's energy for chasing the Zaritas.
