Spider Climb. The spider can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.
Web Sense. While in contact with a web, the spider knows the exact location of any other creature in contact with the same web.
Web Walker. The spider ignores movement restrictions caused by webbing.
Ghostly Phase (Recharge 5–6). As a bonus action, the Wraith Spider becomes partially incorporeal until the start of its next turn, allowing it to move through creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. It can end its movement inside a creature’s space, forcing the creature to succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened until the start of its next turn.
Multiattack. The Wraith Spider makes two attacks: one Bite and one Spectral Web.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target.
Hit: 18 (3d10 + 2) piercing damage plus 10 (3d6) necrotic damage. The target must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned for 1 minute. The poisoned target is also paralyzed while in contact with a web.
Spectral Web (Recharge 4–6). Ranged Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, range 30 ft., one creature.
Hit: The creature is restrained by ghostly webbing. The webbing is intangible but still traps the target. While restrained in this way, the creature takes 7 (2d6) necrotic damage at the start of each of its turns. A restrained creature can use its action to make a DC 15 Strength check, escaping on a success.
The Wraith Spider can take 2 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time, and only at the end of another creature’s turn.
-
Skitter. The Wraith Spider moves up to half its speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
-
Phantom Strike (Costs 2 Actions). Makes one Bite attack against a creature within reach.
-
Web Pull. A restrained creature is dragged 15 feet closer to the Wraith Spider.
Lair and Lair Actions
If the Wraith Spider is encountered in its lair, it can use one of the following lair actions on initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties):
-
Ghostly Webbing. Phantom webs fill a 20-foot radius centered on a point the spider can see. The area becomes difficult terrain, and creatures entering or starting their turn there must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom save or take 10 (3d6) necrotic damage.
-
Chilling Screech. The Wraith Spider emits a horrifying screech. Each creature of its choice within 60 feet must make a DC 15 Wisdom save or be frightened until the end of their next turn.
-
Web Spawn. The spider summons 1d4 spectral spiderlings (use Giant Spider stat blocks, but with necrotic damage immunity).
