Traits

False Appearance. If the Trapple tree is motionless at the start of combat, it has advantage on its initiative roll. Moreover, if a creature hasn't observed the Trapple tree move or act, that creature must succeed on a DC 10 Intelligence (Nature) check to discern that the Trapple tree isn't an ordinary plant.

Distress Call. Once per combat, if the Trapple Tree has 30% or less hit points roll d20, if 15 or higher it is possible to summon a Trapple, then roll d4 to determine how many are summoned. With every 2.5% lowered hit points past 30% it requires 5 less on the rolling to summon.

Harvest. When encountered and every third turn after (roll d6): if 1-3, 1 Trapple is grown, if 4-6, 2 Trapples are grown. If the Trapple Tree is dealt at least 40% of its hit points due to lightning damage in one turn, it losses the ability to use this action.

Actions

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 4 (1d6 + 1) piercing damage.

Fling. One Tiny or smaller object held or creature grappled by the Trapple tree is thrown up to 10 feet towards chosen target. If a thrown target strikes a solid surface, the target takes (1d6) bludgeoning damage. If the target is thrown at another creature, that creature must succeed on a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw or take the same damage.

Holding root. The Trapple Tree uses one of its larger roots; reach 10 ft., one target medium or smaller creature which is considered grappled (escape DC 13). The Trapple tree has one larger root, can grapple one target.

Photosynthesis. Once every four turns (roll d4): if 1, heals 3%, if 2, 7%, if 3, 12%, if 4, 17% of its full hit points. If the Trapple Tree is dealt at least 40% of its hit points due to lightning damage in one turn, it losses the ability to use this action.

Description

Young Trapple Trees are hard to come by, their species being near extinction with how specialized their kin are. In some places it is seen as a sort of honor and token of good fortune to see one about.

Refer to Trapple stat block for growing of Trapples.
