Traits

Incorporeal Movement. The spider can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. It takes 5 (1d10) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object.

Spider Climb. The wraith spider can climb difficult surfaces, including along ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.

Sunlight Sensitivity. While in sunlight, the spider has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

Web Sense. While in contact with a web, the wraith spider knows the exact location of any other creature in contact with the same web.

Web Walker. The spider ignores movement restrictions caused by webs, and it knows the location of any other creature in contact with the same web.

Actions

Life Drain. Melee Attack Roll: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target, Hit: 24 (4d8+6) necrotic damage. The target must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or its hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the damage taken. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0.

Description

Wraith spiders look like withered husks of giant spiders, with eight shadow-filled pits where their eyes should be. When attacked with mundane weapons, their bodies turn to smoke, allowing blades to pass harmlessly through, and their venom glands now secrete a deadly life-draining toxin. Fortunately, they are only encountered in the darkest and most accursed of forests; you are not likely to run into one of these cryptic beasts while strolling through the average park or woodland.
