Multiattack. The owlbear makes two Rend attacks.
Rend. Melee Attack Roll: +7, reach 5 ft. Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) Slashing damage.
I really wanted a little something MORE from the Owlbear. We all LOVE OWLBEARS!
Is anyone able to explain why they no longer have a beak attack?
Rend covers both beak and claws
Cool that they can climb now, but otherwise pretty bland stat block especially now that they lost Keen Sight and Smell in favor of and extra +2 to Perception checks
Owlbears are my friends :)
Owlbear can climb, YIPPEE!!!
Rend instead of claw+beak make it so much less flavorful.
Except for the climbing speed, there absolutly no interest in this statblock compared to the old one, its just blank with less flavor.
One of the most iconic monsters in D&D, the Owlbear.
Gained a 40ft. climbing speed. Also gained expertise in Perception and lost Keen Sight & Smell.
Lost the Beak and Claws attack for the generic Rend, but the damage is increased from 10 piercing + 14 slashing to 28 slashing on average.
Fairly bland, not going to lie. I expected a bit more from this Owlbear, but it got the "simplified attacks & abilities" treatment.
