Ethereal Sight. The spider can see 60 feet into the Ethereal Plane while on the Material Plane and vice versa.
Spider Climb. The spider can climb difficult surfaces, including along ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.
Web Walker. The spider ignores movement restrictions caused by webs, and the spider knows the location of any other creature in contact with the same web.
Multiattack. The spider makes two Bite attacks.
Bite. Melee Attack Roll: +5, reach 5 ft. Hit: 8 (1d10 + 3) Piercing damage plus 9 (2d8) Poison damage. If this damage reduces the target to 0 Hit Points, the target becomes Stable, and it has the Poisoned condition for 1 hour. While Poisoned, the target also has the Paralyzed condition.
Ethereal Jaunt. The spider teleports from the Material Plane to the Ethereal Plane or vice versa.
1st time I have seen a build for these I like. It is a shame we dont get more varities.
That spider can teleport. I'm getting ideas that will psychologically torture my players. *evil DM laughter*
Gained 1 AC, and two hit die, increasing health from 32 to 45. Dexterity score is increased from 15 to 16, increasing the modifier from +2 to +3.
Gained Ethereal Sight. Web Walker and Web Sense are combined. Ethereal Jaunt is moved to the Bonus Actions section.
Gained multiattack, attacking twice with its Bite. They kept their Paralysis at 0 hit points effect for this spider only, but not the others. Also, it used to be a DC 11 Constitution save against 18(4d8) poison damage, now it automatically deals 9(2d8). Due to the Dexterity increase, the Bite's damage is increased from 7(1d10+2) to 8(1d10+3).
New Phase Spider isn't messing around. I will be using this against my players and watch their horrified faces as this thing plays with its food.
Fusion time! Increase the poison damage to 18(4d8) from the 2014 version. Simple.
... you know, with such fusion, that thing might really well do one shot after one shot all your players while being really hard to kill? Really, looking at all your way of how you like creatures to je as strong as possible, i think i would be forced to powerbuild and hate my time of you were my dm.
This is a cool monster - I was worried though that It could just hide out in the ethereal plane after popping in for a sneak attack...
essentially pop in, attack and pop out... they'd never be able to get attacked.
Then I realized it's a Bonus action to pop in or out... so they are always stuck in the material plane at least 1 round... Pop in (bonus action used) ... attack... climb up the wall and hope they miss...... next round attack and pop out...
I will allow that it can move in the ethereal plane and it can pop out in a different space within 30 feet.
Toss two or three of these and there will always be one winking in and another winking out. ... and moving
I wonder if they should perhaps be able to shoot or create a web of some sort...hmmm. Or could just have the area be covered in webs... difficult terrain...hmmm. Thoughts?
