Traits

Illumination. The Smollusk's slime trail sheds bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet and persists for 10 days.

Double-Edged Ooze. If the a pint's worth of ooze is lightly doused or consumed by a creature, that creature regains 8d4+8 hit points. For the next 24 hours, the creature is at risk of internal combustion. If the creature abruptly falls prone, suffers fall damage or force damage, it can trigger the Smollusk's Detonation ability.

The Smollusk can generate a pint of ooze every 3 days if fed an equal amount of poisonous plant matter. If no volatile substances are consumed, the ooze looses its magical properties.

Actions

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +1 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2 (1d6 − 1) bludgeoning damage.

Reactions

Detonation. The Smollusk is coated in a highly reactive slime. When the Smollusk is struck by a weapon or spell, it can use its reaction to erupt with magical energy in a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on the Smollusk. The sphere spreads around corners. Each creature in the area must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw. A creature in the blast takes 23 (5d8) force damage on a failed saving throw, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Description

The Smollusk is a tiny creature with a unique taste for potent flora.  In the dusky Underdark caverns, it placidly sheds a dull glow from its shell and spends most of its time feeding on various dangerous fungi. Its favorite food is the incredibly spicy Gas Spore, whose explosive sting is recycled into a cocktail the Smollusk stores in its shell and tendrils. This bizarre snail secretes a sticky slime-trail that is highly coveted on the black market for its unique kick.

Unbeknownst to most adventurers spending coin with reckless abandon, the Smollusk's excretion is eerily similar to a Potion of Healing and carries with it the same rejuvenating benefits. However, this ooze is chemically identical to magical nitroglycerin and may explode if shaken. Adventurers are advised to only engage in light activity after consuming a Smollusk's slime, or risk detonating from both ends. Good luck getting your refund from that charismatic shopkeeper if you survive. The least he could do is buy you a change of pants.
