Traits

Golden Blood. Yāoyì regains 20 hit points at the start of her turn. If she is affected by something that prevents healing, this trait doesn’t function at the start of her next turn. Yāoyì dies only if she starts her turn with 0 hit points and doesn’t regenerate. 

Innate Spellcasting. Yāoyì’s spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 26, +18 to hit with spell attacks). She casts all her spells at will, requiring no material components, and at the minimum of level 3.

Magic Weapons. Yāoyì‘s weapon attacks are magical.

Magic Resistance. Yāoyì has Advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Reactive. Yāoyì can take one reaction on every turn in a combat.

Remnants of Divinity. Yāoyì does not require sleep, food & drink, or to even breathe, she is unaffected by natural weather, and she can communicate to animals.

Multiattack. Yāoyì makes four weapon attacks. She can replace two of these attacks to cast one of her at will spells.


Eye of the Storm. Yāoyì gains resistance to Lightning & Thunder damage.

Reactions

Parry. Yāoyì adds 5 to her AC against one melee attack that would hit her.

Riposte. When a creature misses Yāoyì with a melee attack, she can make a weapon attack against the creature.

Legendary Actions

Yāoyì can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. Yāoyì regains spent legendary actions at the start of her turn.

Attack. Yāoyì makes a weapon attack.

Spellcasting (Costs 2 Actions). Yāoyì casts a spell. 

She Who Steps Between (Costs 3 Actions). Yāoyì makes two weapon attacks against each creature within 15 feet that she is aware of.

Description

Yāoyì is a 5’10” human looking woman, ridden with countless scars all seemingly clad in gold. She has eyes like that of a golden sunset, long hair as black as the night, two similarly black wings on her back, and a long flowing tail of feathers. At a glance, Yāoyì looks to be in her early to mid 30s, however, she is 383 years old.

She was once a monotheistic god whom existed for an eternity but later destroyed and scattered into fragments, sundered beyond reclamation. Now, perhaps, she is a demigod.

Lair and Lair Actions

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Yāoyì takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; she can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:

  • Black Tears. Yāoyì’s fallen tears causes Plant Growth to be cast centred on her and she is unaffected by its effects.
  • Stillness within Immensity. Yāoyì cures or frees herself from poison, disease, an affliction, a curse, or one condition.
  • Lunar Seer of Wonder. Wisdom Saving Throw: DC 26, Yāoyì uncovers the dreams and memories of one creature she can see within 120 feet. Failure: Yāoyì gains Advantage on ability checks & attack rolls against the target and the target receives Disadvantage on saving throws made by Yāoyì. Success: The target receives a +3 to Wisdom, Intelligence and Charisma ability checks and saving throws.
  • Liminality of Divinity of Mortality. Yāoyì casts either Divine WordHealing Word (at 7th level), or Word of Recall which sends her back home. 
  • She Who Steps Between the Unmade and the Echoes of Dawn. If Yāoyì is under 50% of her total hit points, she can cast Time Stop.

Regional Effects

Although mostly stripped of her divinity, the resonance of Yāoyì’s godhood subtly bends the world around her:

  • Even without knowing who she is, creatures instinctively shift around her - not out of fear, but orientation. The way flowers turn to sun, or tides to the moon - an unconscious realignment of will and perception. Those who resist it may feel dizzy, doubt or lost, as though they are walking against gravity or inevitability.
  • Sound becomes clearer, motion slows slightly, the air thickens with intent, fires burn lower, pain dulls, and even storms pause. It’s not silence - the world is listening. As though reality is wanting to remember her. This a constant effect but often so gentle, it is written off as atmosphere or coincidence.
  • Creatures within five miles of Yāoyì may experience strange and luminous dreams, fragments of forgotten heavens, whispers of creation, or the afterimage of her divine memory. The world itself “dreams” in her proximity - places becoming more vivid, moments thickening with meaning, time briefly folding in on itself.

If Yāoyì dies, all of these effects will immediately end.
