Face Hug. The zubling attempts to latch itself onto a creature's face. The zubling targets one creature within 5 feet of it. The target must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or be blinded as the zubling wraps its wings around the target's face and attaches itself. Only one zubling may be attached to a creature at a time. While it is attached in this way, the zubling can automatically hit the target with its bite attack. The target, or another creature within 5 feet of it, may use an action to detach the zubling.
The zubling can detach itself by spending 5 feet of movement.
Description
When the skies fill with Abyssal cackling, it is clear that a swarm of zublings has arrived.
Zublings are tiny demons shaped similarly to a tree frog, but with only two legs. At first glance they are almost cute, if obviously demonic. However, these features merely hide the most terrible Abyssal trait. When they wish to travel more quickly than their tiny legs can carry them, zublings unfurl their legs into two wings flanking their heads and open their maws to reveal row after row of razor sharp fangs dripping with acid. Zublings can use these clawed wings to latch onto a creature's face and disorient it while their fellows bite it or spit acid at it from a distance.
Zublings are not especially bright, but they are intelligent enough to speak. They tend to gather into swarms, reveling in the chaos and destruction they can bring together in true demonic fashion. They, like other small demons such as quasits, can speak Common, and use this skill to taunt and mock their prey with tiny, gremlin-like voices. Swarms of zublings wheel through the air, searching for creatures to attack just for the joy of causing mayhem.
(This monster was based on a design by Max Dunbar. That design made no mention of acid, latching onto people's faces, or even speaking, but hopefully these traits serve to make this a unique demon to add to your games!)
