Concussion Breath. The dragon exhales a thunderous boom, filling a 15-foot cube originating from it. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 36 (8d8) thunder damage and is pushed 20 feet directly away from the dragon. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage and isn't pushed.
Description
When a Bronze dragon egg becomes separated from its nest and parent, if it is struck by lightning on a cloudless night and subsequently hatched during a furious windstorm, a Squall dragon is often the result. A Squall dragon embodies the impersonal and unpredictable nature of a storm with a territorial and cruel streak that stems from the isolation in its life.
Lair and Lair Actions
A Squall Dragon’s Lair
A squall dragon lairs in places prone to powerful storms, such as stormy coasts, tall mountain peaks, or even the bottom of the ocean. It also prefers to be as far away as possible from other creatures, especially other dragons. If another dragon even passes through a Squall dragon's territory, it is hunted down and killed. Squall dragons do not even seek out a mate, and so do not have offspring.
Lair Actions
On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the dragon takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects:
- A powerful gust of wind courses through the dragon's lair in a 30-foot line that is 5 feet wide. Each creature in the line must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be pushed 15 feet in the direction that the wind is blowing.
- A thunderclap originates at a point the dragon can see within 120 feet of it. Each creature within a 20-foot radius centered on that point must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or take 5 (1d10) thunder damage and be deafened until the end of its next turn.
- Lightning arcs, forming a 5-foot-wide line between two of the lair’s solid surfaces that the dragon can see. They must be within 120 feet of the dragon and 120 feet of each other. Each creature in that line must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take 10 (3d6) lightning damage.
Regional Effects
The region containing a legendary squall dragon’s lair is warped by the dragon’s magic.
- Storms within 6 miles of the lair grow extremely powerful.
- Thick, black clouds fill the sky within 6 miles of the lair, causing the region to be veiled in dim light during the day.
- Within its lair, the dragon can set illusory lights and sounds, such as flashes of lightning and booms of thunder, so that they can be heard in various parts of the lair.
If the dragon dies, changed weather reverts to normal, as described in the spell, and the other effects fade in 1d10 days.
