Greetings Everyone!
We're happy to announce the Digital Dice Alpha is now live on the Character Sheet for subscribers only.
These digital dice will help you reduce the math you have to do when playing D&D. We encourage everyone to give them a roll and tell us how they feel!
If you'd like to turn off Dice rolling on the character sheet for any reason, you can click on your character dropdown and toggle the Digital Dice off.
As a thank you, you will also receive a free set of Old School dice that celebrates our roots. You can activate them by going to the My Dice page under "Collections" on the top nav.
If you'd like to learn more about how to use the dice or to give us feedback, visit our Digital Dice Feedback Forum.
Thanks all. Happy rolling!

Thanks, I’ll have to be mindful of this flaw until they’ve sorted it out.
I hope so, any word on this?
I love this feature, and as an Alpha release, far exceeded my expectations. From a user experience standpoint, it may seem a *little* slow to start and resolve. I think, though, that if you compare the cycle time of grabbing your own dice, especially in a complicated roll, rolling them and then calculating the results, it’s probably similar.
Mostly, I just wanted to thank you guys for adding this feature. For me, it’s a significant quality of life improver. Nice job; I’m looking forward to seeing the feature mature.
Feature Wish List:
Me too.
Can we please get the spells coded so all we have to do is click cast and it rolls all the dice at once. Ex. Scorching Ray, Magic Missile, Ice Knife.
I totally understand if this is planned for later in the testing or after alpha.
I love this feature. The dice and the interactive character sheet are excellent.
My feature suggestions are:
Thank you!
It's a great base system. Possible additions: recall all rolls as a history breakdown. Implementing rerolls for such feats as elemental affinity where rolled 1s become 2s. But overall great.
Is this something that will be available for non-subscribers as well, eventually?
This. When playing online, unless the DM and for our group, the rest of the group can't see the dice rolls, its not very useful online. And, for straight tabletop play, we would just roll actual dice without is somehow being visible to everyone.
Why it this on the front page of DDB and saying it was posted 5 hours ago? lol
Was wondering the same, guesss they forgot to put it on there when ot first came out?
Spells can be counterspelled, or affected by other reactions. If that happens the slot may be spent with reduced effect, or no effect at all.
If your idea is used, and the rolls are shown to others, it is important to leave time for "interruptions" after saying "I cast ..." and before actually clicking "cast". The value rolled may affect whether someone cares to stop it.
For Scorching Ray you might want to retarget if the first one hits. Magic Missile hits all targets at the same instant, but there is no statement that Scorching Ray does.
Is there a way to use the dice roller for rolling stats when creating a new character??
At the moment I am using a pre made character to roll the dice on that sheet and then take the results
.
is there no way to roll critical hit damage?
RAW, you double the dice amount of the attack. Some people choose to roll twice as many dice instead, but that's a table rule. I think math is just a part of the game and a rare, situational x2 isn't able to justify the design time or page space. I wouldn't expect it anytime soon.Edit: Important lesson, anytime you think you remember RAW, keep your mouth shut until you find the quote.
RAW: When you score a critical hit, you get to roll extra dice for the attack's damage against the target. Roll all of the attack's damage dice twice and add them together.
other way around but ok . i honestly prefer the base rule of twice as many dice becaus its easier when im plyaing barbarian brutal crit (since if you go greatsword for example 2d6 normal 4d6 on crit but 5d6 on brutal crit if youd doulbe the number it would be 2d6 normal 2d6 doubled and 1d6 not doubled .. thats just confusing ...
also rolling lots of dice is fun SHINY MATH ROCKS MAKE THE CLICK CLICK NOISE
Would be nice that the DM (subscriber to boot) could share this ability with the players (not necessarily subscribers). Would be a nice perk to have with no added cost.
On another note, the app really needs fixing to download and look at the books we purchased.
Working great so far!
Any plans to have a way for digital dice rolls on the character sheet connect to discord/avrae?
Yeah, some of my gang have slower devices and would appreciate a "less fancy" version without the VFX.
That said, great feature and we do love it already.
Thanks DDB!
