We’ve just leveled up in a big way.
Dungeons & Dragons and D&D Beyond have always felt like a part of the same family. That’s why we’re excited to announce that D&D Beyond is formally joining Wizards of the Coast, bringing together two teams that eat, breathe, and sweat for this game and continue to strive to make D&D easy to run, exciting, and accessible to all.
You (and by you, we mean the 10 million users that have been on this adventure with us since 2017!) are probably wondering what kind of change might happen as a result of these two teams coming together, so let’s make this clear: Wizards of the Coast has no plans to stop supporting D&D Beyond. Ever. The purchases you’ve made, the characters you’ve created, and the campaigns you’ve run aren’t going anywhere.
You’ve probably got a million questions about what comes next. What we can say for sure is that we’re excited for what the future holds as we dig in with our new partners. We wish you could see the big stupid grins we’ve all been walking around with. This is truly an incredible time for all of us, and it really feels like there’s no limit to what we can accomplish for our players. Remember, the key factor that makes this partnership perfect is that these teams want one thing: to make your experience playing the World’s Greatest Roleplaying Game even better.
If you’ve been on this journey with us for a while, we’re so glad you’re here. If you’re brand new and clicked on the site today to figure out what the big news was all about, welcome! Remember to register for a free account! (Sorry, couldn’t help ourselves.) We’ll have more to share with you throughout the year, so tune in to the Dev Update, which airs on Twitch on Thursdays at 10 a.m. PT, and check out new content right here on dndbeyond.com.

Awesome. I hope they keep it running the same way.
If you're the same company now, will I be able to get digital content for the physical books I own, or would I still have to re-purcahse them?
Cool, can we all stop buy every book twice now, because that's a real pain.
This is exactly my thoughts. Outside of manually transferring stuff yourself through home brew. But then I wonder if we’ll have more access to unearthed arcana for longer
This exactly!!!! All I want to is to bring alive this bad ass shaman class i stumbled upon!
Now they just need to work with the AboveVTT guys and we’ll have the whole package!…
what about us that have digital copies already but want/would like, a physical copy of said books. I would willingly pay S&H
This is what i want to see!! all Dnd originals and third party in the same place with the same toolset will do wonders in the community and they will gain money as well.
I hope they do the book thingy because I have six irl books and I can't use their content on DDB. Congrats!
Meh. Business happened. No more, no less.
Financially this makes no sense for them to do with new books going forward. Putting content in the system isn't just an upload of a PDF. It takes programming to do which takes payroll. If they did do this they would have to either raise the price of the books or raise the price of the subscription. Now the digital content is already at a discount ($30 instead of $50). and you get this discount weather you bought the physical book or not.
Personally I do not see any changes in how things are done when it comes to release and purchasing of content.
Sorry for the late question, but does this mean that we could get the long desired redeemable keys in physical hardcover books in the near future now that WotC has ownership of DND Beyond? Or are we going to have to continue biting the bullet and buying both versions of the books/settling for just digital or physical?
To anyone who has an answer, I would love to know. (I know a billion other people are asking this question, I just want a concrete answer, thanks.)
I'm glad this all worked out! I'm glad you've all got big grins WoTC would be absolute CHUMPS if they didnt properly partner with y'all
Holy crap, it happened! Congratulations! I hope this will help close the gap on releases and up the quality and speed of everything.
A tiny bit concerned about the future, as purchases like this aren't uncommon to end in shut down, but let's wish for the best!
see my comment above
I dont think we have to worry about that. 150 million is alot to spend for something jsut to shut it down. Even if they had their own product to roll out, i dont think it would have been cost6 effective.
A partnership with AboveVTT would be another excellent move. Hopefully this acquisition does not break the functionality of the AboveVTT plug-ins.
Does this mean that you can finally put the translated books into the website. I'd be happy to support this.
Congratulations. Looking forward to the adventures as the new alliance forges ahead!
So, effectively Todd Kenreck and D&D Beyond are going to formally reunite (in a sense...) which is awesome.
Now if WotC could please also absorb the Encounter+ App as their official VTT platform, everything would be right with the multiverse.
