We’ve just leveled up in a big way.
Dungeons & Dragons and D&D Beyond have always felt like a part of the same family. That’s why we’re excited to announce that D&D Beyond is formally joining Wizards of the Coast, bringing together two teams that eat, breathe, and sweat for this game and continue to strive to make D&D easy to run, exciting, and accessible to all.
You (and by you, we mean the 10 million users that have been on this adventure with us since 2017!) are probably wondering what kind of change might happen as a result of these two teams coming together, so let’s make this clear: Wizards of the Coast has no plans to stop supporting D&D Beyond. Ever. The purchases you’ve made, the characters you’ve created, and the campaigns you’ve run aren’t going anywhere.
You’ve probably got a million questions about what comes next. What we can say for sure is that we’re excited for what the future holds as we dig in with our new partners. We wish you could see the big stupid grins we’ve all been walking around with. This is truly an incredible time for all of us, and it really feels like there’s no limit to what we can accomplish for our players. Remember, the key factor that makes this partnership perfect is that these teams want one thing: to make your experience playing the World’s Greatest Roleplaying Game even better.
If you’ve been on this journey with us for a while, we’re so glad you’re here. If you’re brand new and clicked on the site today to figure out what the big news was all about, welcome! Remember to register for a free account! (Sorry, couldn’t help ourselves.) We’ll have more to share with you throughout the year, so tune in to the Dev Update, which airs on Twitch on Thursdays at 10 a.m. PT, and check out new content right here on dndbeyond.com.

digital is cheaper then physical
Not sure what you mean?
He said they didn't buy the code, so what does this mean? Will the tools be completely re-written and re-ordered, changed functionality or something. If they are rebuilding the tools will everything be backward compatible (have to assume yes, it seems ridiculous to think otherwise, but what's the answer?) If rebuilding, does that mean some functions will be eliminated until the new code can allow for it? Recall how long it took for many functions to be rolled out as the coders were working on priority fuctionality first, with the to-do list, and the weekly/daily discussion of progress on various promised functions as they were coded, tested, refined and finally implemented.
This. Is. Like. Casting. Wish.
it costs the same to purchase, FOR THE CONSUMER, regardless of whether you buy a digital or physical.
I am lo0ving this News, Myself and My friends, have been playing D&D since 78. and would love to see a Digital Code included in New Purchases of Bookshelf SRD so that New Non-Digital Purchases included the Digital Material.
As a DM, (I would love to see DnD Beyond, become an Immersive VTT, and being that you are now Wizards of The Coast, that used Library Content when running a campaign, (i.e. Maps, NPC and Monster Tokens and Stat Blocks, and having a DM Layer a Player Level, would be awesome, where the DM Layer had the UN fogged and Labeled Map, and the Player level had fog and dynamic lighting,. That is a Pipe Dream, I am sure. it just saves time as a DM, since you have to download the Maps, then upload them to a VTT like Foundry, Roll20, Owlbear Rodeo, and others. and putting stat blocks in for each NPC and Monster into the VTT, while Beyond does allow you to share the Stat block and Picture, if there is one, it does not have tokens for use with VTT
Maybe it is just a case of Wishful thinking

Not true, D&DBeyond has always been cheaper than physical books
I’m excited to see existing content finally get supported like “Dark Gifts”. DnD Beyond has a ways to go to support even just the material that they say that they support now.
i am happy
im all forward to this merge but there some thing alarms me and really hope to get repley from Devs of Dnd Beyond to answer this question. I recived a email today that say the fallowing,
We are excited to announce that D&D Beyond will soon be joining Hasbro as part of the Wizards of the Coast family!
On May 18, 2022 or soon after, your D&D Beyond account will transfer to Wizards of the Coast, at which point (and going forward) the Wizards Terms of Use will apply to your use of D&D Beyond, and the Wizards Privacy Policy will apply to the personal data associated with your account. If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, Wizards of the Coast LLC will become the “data controller” of your personal data once it transfers.
For more information on this transaction, please click here. If you wish to delete your account prior to the transfer, you will find instructions for doing so here.
What i want to know is can we still sigh in D&D beyond by google or do we need to make a wizard account and link them? i try linking my twitch account with my dnd beyond but it did not share the same content i own and by from my google account? this is worries me a lot becuse i spend a LOT of money on my D&D beyond for my source books, Pleas one of the Devs of D&D respond to this comment as soon as possible!
I imagine they will not be changing how users log in because that is a nightmare in terms of data migration. Instead they will just be updating the terms and conditions and I imagine the first time any of us log in we will have to tick a new tick box to confirm we have read them.
buying the book physical is typically $50, buying the book on DDB is typically $30 a $20 discount with alot more features.
listen, sorry, but when i first joined, and signed on to this, it was 49.99. NOW it's 29.99, but you can see my reasoning behind "gib free digital if buy physical", you know?.
Seems pretty cool. Wonder if WOTC will start including codes with books now. Also maybe more mtg crossovers? And actually, random question, would we be allowed to use MTG art in the homebrews that we post in the homebrew section now? (Or could we already do so beforehand?) With how WOTC has been treating mtg lately, I am a bit worried, but I do at least have good hopes that they leave dndb as more of the same
not really, cause they are two separate products. I could maybe see including a compendium only content but not full content. you wouldnt expect to get the Digital version of a board game for free if you bought the physical version would you?
Its always been cheaper. here is a screen shot of the first individual book I bought back in 2019 with the legendary bundle discount

Cool - now will we be able to update our payment methods/billing info without having to cancel our subscription and resub? (an issue since 2017)
Now that you are partnering up with Wizards of the Coast is there a way to use hard copy books we already bought on DND Beyond or do we still need to buy the DND Beyond version of the books to use them?
I’m interested in the answer to this question as well. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on physical books, and was discouraged from making purchases through D&D beyond because I don’t have any desire to duplicate purchases for content I already own just so I can use the service. Moving forward I’d be more comfortable making purchases if I knew I didn’t have to completely reinvest in my hobby from the ground floor just to modernize. Access to books I’ve already purchased would go a long way to securing brand loyalty.
I think it would be a good idea if dndb put the invitation to comment box at the end of previous comments, thereby creating the possibility of more people, even accidentally, reading some of the previous points before commenting themselves...
