They say life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows—but it can be with the Power of the Unicorn Digital Dice Set! This September, D&D Beyond subscribers can roll with a dash of unicorn radiance that makes every ability check, saving throw, or attack feel a little more magical.
This month's subscription perks are automatically unlocked for new and current D&D Beyond subscribers. If you're not yet a subscriber but want to collect these perks, you'll need to subscribe to D&D Beyond before they're gone! (Not sure you want to subscribe? We offer a 30-day free trial!)
Unlock Maps with a Master Tier Subscription
Maps is a virtual tabletop (VTT) where Master Tier subscribers can quickly jump into play using official maps and tokens from their D&D Beyond collection.
You can also upload your own maps, utilize a variety of tools like fog of war, and invite players to join in from the D&D Beyond campaign they are in. What's better, only you, as the Dungeon Master, need to have a D&D Beyond subscription to run games. Players can join whether they have an upgraded or free D&D Beyond account and can control their tokens as they explore the map.
Where Can You See Collected Perks?
If you are not subscribed, you can see this month's perks on our subscription page. If you're a current subscriber, you'll receive a monthly email that details the perks.
Once you receive your perks, you can find character sheet backgrounds and character portrait frames on your character sheets. Simply go to My Characters and click "View" on one of your characters. From there, click on your character name or "Manage" and then "Change Sheet Appearance" to access the backdrop, frame, and theme customization menus.
Your digital dice collection can be found on the My Dice page.
What Do You Do If You Haven't Received This Month's Perks?
If you're a current subscriber but can't access this month's perks, go into your account settings and click "Sync My Entitlements."
If You Subscribe, Do You Receive Perks from Previous Months?
No, you only receive perks for the months you are subscribed. However, we will occasionally extend the period during which you can receive a particular month's perks.
What Happens to My Perks When My Subscription Ends?
If you receive subscription perks but later end your D&D Beyond subscription, you'll maintain access to the perks you've collected.
What Else Do You Get with a Paid D&D Beyond Subscription?
Our subscription page has all the details, but a Hero and Master Tier subscription allows you to:
- Share books and other content you've purchased with players in your campaigns (Master Tier)
- Host game sessions in the Maps virtual tabletop, to run D&D for your players right from your browser
- Create and save as many characters as your dungeon-crawling heart desires
- Save an unlimited number of encounters, to make DM prep easier
- Use publicly available homebrew content

Looks like this article is heavily promoting a Master Tier subscription.. which begs the question... is "no subscription required" no longer an option?
I would at least think that there would be some mention of what Dan was talking about... It seems that today's article flat out contradicts what Dan told us..
Today's Article:
"Maps is a virtual tabletop (VTT) where Master Tier subscribers can quickly jump into play using official maps and tokens from their D&D Beyond collection."
Dan's Article from a month ago:
"...all D&D Beyond registered users can run games on the Maps virtual tabletop (VTT) —no subscription required."
So... Which is it? Do we have to have a Master Tier subscription to access Maps... or will it be a no subscription required?
Dice not showing up anywhere. :(
Because why would the promote something that's not true yet on the monthly thing about the subscription perk, on the 16th maps will be free which is still two weeks away so that's still two weeks where master tier subscription is the only way to acess maps
