Share Your Dice Results with the Brand New Game Log!
We’re excited to announce that D&D Beyond users (desktop AND mobile app) can now share their dice roll results with other players in their campaigns. Celebrate your high rolls in real time with your friends, even if you aren’t in the same room!
Within the Game Log, you’ll see what action you or your campaign members rolled, the result of the roll plus any modifiers, and a visual of the dice set used to roll. That’s right – you can now let your party members see your character’s personality roll through with the dice set you’ve enabled!
You can find the Game Log on the character sheet of a character that’s in a campaign, on a campaign’s main page, and within Encounters.

I LOVE this feature but I'm having a hard time with one of my players rolling on the character app having their dice rolls show up in the game log, is there somewhere to submit a bug ticket? Or any Suggestions on a fix?
Having used this now for a little bit, I have to say it's a great start, but needs a lot of improvements.
Functionally I think it works pretty well aside from some issues that are more dice roller related (e.g- doesn't roll bonus weapon damage, can't roll attack and damage at the same time etc.), but it does have some UI related issues of its own. The UI really needs to combine rolls together for the same character, and we need some improvements to the sidebar so we can keep it open more easily without limiting access to the character sheet (currently you need the window to be quite wide before locking it open is an option, but who can do that right now when most groups are playing via video chat etc.?). I created a forum thread where I discuss a few of these.
But yeah, I think it's a really good start, and I look forward to refinements being made; I think my group is probably sticking with Avrae for the time being, as with the right aliases and snippets it's still easier to handle stuff like adding guidance onto ability checks, it rolls extra weapon damage automatically (with a single command to roll both to hit and damage) and so-on, but I'm looking forward to when the DDB dice roller can take over completely for our dice rolling needs.
I feel that seeing other players' rolls breaks immersion. If a player tries a persuasion check and fails, another player might think "Wow that roll wasn't too bad, I might be able to get a higher roll because my modifier is higher". I ask my players to whisper their rolls to me when I use the Beyond 20 extension in our Roll20 games.
We need to set up advantage and disadvantage
How do you mean? You can roll with advantage/disadvantage or roll critical damage by right-clicking or long-pressing on the appropriate button.
This was so helpful last week one of my players has switched us all to dnd beyond for the monday game as it is so much easier
Hopefully a full Virtual Table Top program/app is in the works or they partner/open up sharing with a VTT provider. I own all my books on DDB, but always get prompted to buy them again on any other VTT. If I’m just not doing it right and this is already an option, let me know.
Ran a session today using the encounter builder and game log and it worked really well. Having a way for the DM to do monster rolls automatically would be nice, but it's really easy to just roll a d20 and add the attack bonus from the monster's stat sheet. I think we'll be using this exclusively from now on, great work!
noticed it today in an encounter i ran, thats actually a pog as hell feature, thank you!
my choice to invest into this account is getting validated more and more with all the great DM tools you added!
I love it. Nice job team. How do you reset the log?
I know that you are probably trying to wait for people to settle into this new feature before posting another article, but I would love to know if D&D Beyond will continue to post articles like James Haeck did or not. I am not discounting it as a possibility that you might not post anything but update articles anymore, but I know I and many others would like to see non-update articles in the future.
it need´s a delete button, at least for the players XD
This is a great feature, and very useful for Theatre of the Mind play! Thanks!
Some have mentioned a D&D Beyond VTT. There are many terrific ATT's out there, especially Foundry, Astral, and Shard. I personally would rather see DnDBeyond create official plug-ins for these VTT's rather than reinventing the wheel. Something like Avrae, but with deeper integration. Maybe an "Avrae-VTT"? That way everyone could continue using their favorite VTT but easily integrate DDB's tools and resources.
For now, thanks much for the Game Log!
Bro...get Beyond20
Even if you're not populating a VTT or Discord it will do exactly what you're needing and populate the log with To Hit and Damage from the encounter tracker. Can work the same for your players and all their potential damage output from spell attacks and melee attacks
I am hoping that you could connect Beyond20 to the Player app with this feature. I play on my laptop and use my IPad as second screen with DND open for my sheet and playing in Roll20.
would be nice if you could connect the player app now with dice roll and game log to beyond20
Yes please! Now please!
hi
Over a week and no new articles...You guys must have really relied on James for a lot of content
Yeah... That's why he was the "lead writer".
I didn't realize that "lead writer" meant "only writer". Strange they haven't had anyone provide fluff in the meantime.
