D&D Beyond is excited to announce the release of the all-new, consolidated D&D Beyond App! Gone are the days of two separate apps: we’ve combined the power of the D&D Beyond toolset with new mobile features to make your Dungeons & Dragons 5th-edition games more accessible and more fun. The app is available to download for free on iOS and Android.
The toolset makes it easier to reference D&D content, with features ranging from a guided character creation, dynamic character sheets and spell management, plus the ability to search and bookmark books in your library. The app is the perfect mobile solution for every D&D player — whether you’re a new player, a veteran campaigner, or legendary Dungeon Master.
Play with Advantage
Mobile character creation is easier with the character builder tool walking you through every step of the character creation process. You’ll never have to enter a game without your character sheet again — access your characters online or offline and be ready for skill checks, attack rolls, saving throws, or whatever twists your DM throws at you. Manage your character's health, abilities, spells, and inventory.
Forgot your dice? Roll directly in the app with themed digital dice sets!
Dungeon Masters will enjoy the ability to easily access monster stat blocks and game rules in the D&D Beyond App. Bookmark your favorite monsters or frequently used rules, search spells, and gaze longingly over your backlog of characters you'd love to play (some day, maybe...).
What if I already own the Player App or Reader App?
Adventurers who have the D&D Beyond Player App will simply need to update the app to access the new tools! If you are using the D&D Beyond Reader App, you'll need to migrate over to the new app.
Oh, I agree. Luckily I got into the game late so I went the straight digital route. That said, dnd beyond has caused book prices to plummet. remember, the physical copies used to be in the 60 to 70 dollar range at one time. Now they are all significantly cheaper.
Exciting!
If only you people acted like adults and read why they can’t do that.
Can we maybe just this ONCE, make this thread - which is NOT about print vs digital books in the least - not about that and keep the comments on-topic?
Yeah - that'd be great. Thanks.
Yeah, for example how the player app still failed to have a light theme option for people like me whose eyes literally can't tolerate this dark theme cause it makes my eye hurt. And the app is out since, how long? And yet no light theme, while most apps made by 1-3 people can handle that challenge.
Can't wait for Sam Riegel's promo about this one
Woot!
The mobile version of the website is already working like a charm, especially on tablets. I hope the app becomes so good that we prefer it over the website in the future! :)
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO!!
I can't say I use the apps, just the website, so this isn't a big change for me. However, it seems a lot of people do use the app, and for them, I thank you.
Unexpected but very welcome.
Will this have separate UI for tablet and phone? (Can't count the times all that wonderful tablet screen space lies unused by phone-only apps)
The one very important question is this,
will it be accessible with voiceover?
I've been using the current app to build my characters for various campaigns. I bought my source material and adventures with you guys because you are literally the only mildly screen-reader friendly option out there, and this has allowed me to access some of the more vital services for a D&D player and DM.
If however suddenly this is not going to be the case, I'm going to be very upset, especially since I've already given you quite a bit of money because of the fact that I *could* access your material. If you're going to become more like roll20 or other platforms that are pretty much useless with screen readers this is very upsetting.
Is this going to work with Roll20?
Would this eventually bring all web functionality to the app? Being able to build/run encounters through the app would be great. Very much looking forward to this consolidation either way!
I like the idea of consolidating functionality. Will the compendium section of the Player app be functionally similar to the current Reader app? I. e., can we continue to read our purchased content in a pseudo-book style, or will everything be hyperlinks from character sheets?
Will there be better note section for dm notes for homebrew campaign?
Awesome!!!
Broooooo, that would be so sweet if the app could connect to the forums. Great idea...devs plz do that
YES! We’ve been waiting for this announcement!
