D&D Beyond is excited to announce the release of the all-new, consolidated D&D Beyond App! Gone are the days of two separate apps: we’ve combined the power of the D&D Beyond toolset with new mobile features to make your Dungeons & Dragons 5th-edition games more accessible and more fun. The app is available to download for free on iOS and Android.
The toolset makes it easier to reference D&D content, with features ranging from a guided character creation, dynamic character sheets and spell management, plus the ability to search and bookmark books in your library. The app is the perfect mobile solution for every D&D player — whether you’re a new player, a veteran campaigner, or legendary Dungeon Master.
Play with Advantage
Mobile character creation is easier with the character builder tool walking you through every step of the character creation process. You’ll never have to enter a game without your character sheet again — access your characters online or offline and be ready for skill checks, attack rolls, saving throws, or whatever twists your DM throws at you. Manage your character's health, abilities, spells, and inventory.
Forgot your dice? Roll directly in the app with themed digital dice sets!
Dungeon Masters will enjoy the ability to easily access monster stat blocks and game rules in the D&D Beyond App. Bookmark your favorite monsters or frequently used rules, search spells, and gaze longingly over your backlog of characters you'd love to play (some day, maybe...).
What if I already own the Player App or Reader App?
Adventurers who have the D&D Beyond Player App will simply need to update the app to access the new tools! If you are using the D&D Beyond Reader App, you'll need to migrate over to the new app.
Come throuuuugh
yus!
Now that I think about it, switching between apps is fast. Just double click the button (in Android). But navigating inside one app is a PITA. If you have the character sheet open and need to check a specific rule, you first go back from the sheet and then go to the rules section. And after finding it you must come back...
Even in computer, I always keep them is separate tabs. So as long as there is no clever quick navigation bar (which takes screen space), I think two apps is better than one.
That's so cool!!!....I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a cleaner interface though
Not to mention, I might want my player app on my 6" phone, but not the reader app; meanwhile I do want the reader app on my tablet but maybe not the player app. Not having a choice of selective installation means I do have to have all the functionality I won't use hanging around on my device.
If this will put all the DM tools in, I will really start using instead of just trying it out, as the current setup makes the apps a bit lean on functionality for DMs.... let's see this ready to roll on RUNNING a campaign.
I am WELL AWARE that dndbeyond is separate. It doesn't mean I accept that fact when I know WotC could EASILY enable it to happen but they don't.
I didn't realize acting like an adult meant accepting things for the way they are without question. You sound like a puppet.
Awesome!
Do you think I am not aware? It isn't confusing, and I am well aware of the different companies. And if you think I have not sent complaints to WotC you are mistaken. It also doesn't mean I'm not going to complain to dndbeyond. Stop making assumptions and join the fight against both of the bastards.
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
So this means we're losing all our bookmarks and such, right?
What are users of the reader app actually gaining?
When??? Sounds awesome!
Just a question, the the standalone compendium app still be supported? I like having the app with just the information and not the clutter of characters (even organized)
This is cool in all, but I need some clarification. Will I be able to access the books like the phb or xanthar's guide using this app
Amazon probably won't they have control over what goes into their store (I work at a library, the library has been trying to get their new app in the store for 4 years). Your kindle is basically an android device though so if you aren't concerned about voiding your warranty you can make it so the device is basically an android device with custom software.
Excellent! Will DM's be able to see their homebrew and encounters on the app?
Yay!!!
Looking forward to the update! Love the progress forward!
Can we have a better search engine? For example, a search might bring up the “words” searched in a spell for 5-6 sources (same spell) but doesn’t bring up what you are looking for. For example try Hail. Plenty of the same spell comes up on the search. Likewise, same thing happens on the webpage but with different results. I find myself going back and forth and finally googling “*word* DnD Beyond and exclude forums” to get what I’m looking for. Kinda defeats the purpose of searching in app.
