I'd say no, because no where in the spell does it mention Sunlight, such as the Dawn spell or other items that have a similar effect.

Giving this spell the sunlight property undermines the significance of the Sunsword and the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind, which the players are encouraged to find throughout the CoS campaign.

This spell is intended to counter Darkness, and as a personal DM rule, to pop enemies out of stealth the players might believe are lurking near by.

Vampires in this campaign shouldn't be laughed at, and that is what this spell does if you have it act like sunlight.

I'd say it depends on the campaign whether or not you play it loosely. CoS where the danger is supposed to be real and there are powerful artifacts in the game already that give sunlight, I would forbid Daylight to also act as Sunlight.

it says "if any of this spell's area overlaps with an area of darkness created by a spell of 3rd level or lower, the spell that created the darkness is dispelled." so the second any part of daylight touches any part of darkness the darkness spell is completely

You can make the light sunlight in three easy steps! 1. Cast daylight. 2. Cast wish. 3. Wish the daylight was sunlight. See? Easy!

The 2024 version now does say 'sunlight' specifically. Interesting.
