Fire
A bright streak flashes from your pointing finger to a point you choose within range and then blossoms with a low roar into an explosion of flame. Each creature in a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on that point must make a Dexterity saving throw. A target takes 8d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
The fire spreads around corners. It ignites flammable objects in the area that aren't being worn or carried.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 3rd.
* - (a tiny ball of bat guano and sulfur)

Posted Oct 24, 2019It's the Spell Save DC for Casters, aka 8 + Proficiency + Attribut for casting (INT for Wizards/Eldritch Knights, WIS for Clerics/Druid, CHA for Warlock/Sorcerer/Paladin).
For Example if you're 18 Intelligence 5th Level Wizard casts Fireball, every enemy should roll a 15 or higher to take half damage (8 + 3 (Proficiency) +7 (INT Modifier))

Posted Nov 4, 2019I just wonder: Could a cunning artificer enchant a burrito so that it will cast fireball when the person who eats it next farts? I really hope this is possible.

Posted Nov 21, 2019I would say it would singe it but not outright light it on fire, but if you are DMing do what you feel would make sense. and it could still light stuff on fire but not treat them as burning objects.

Posted Dec 9, 2019Bat guano (which contained saltpeter) was commonly used to make explosives. This could be a symbolic representation and/or a dad joke (like many other spell components).

Posted Dec 16, 2019This is explained in the spellcasting part of the PHB. It is that you can collect these, or you can use a form of spellcasting focus, such as an arcane focus or a holy symbol. You can also substitute the components if you have a component pouch. Those rules are ignored if one of two conditions are met
On those conditions, you must have the components. Some classes make it so that these rules may be bypassed, such as the archdruid trait. If you want more, look at the spellcasting section in the PHB.

Posted Jan 1, 2020Is blight essentially better than fireball? It does way more damage at higher spell slots (as 8d8 is better than 9d6), but as a wizard necromancer, would more damage and grim harvest be better than 120 feet more range, area damage, and ignition of flammable objects?

Posted Feb 7, 2020If your dm allows you to select what creatures you get then sure conjure animals is insanly op. the spell states you get to choose the option of how many cr creatures you summon not what shows up. For me as a dm I would mix it up. some wolves for sure so the spell slot isnt waisted, but some owls and rats as well so its still useful but the party doesnt get insane advantage with action economy.

Posted Feb 17, 2020DEX save for half damage. So you roll 8d6 damage- say 3, 5, 3, 6, 3, 2, 5, 4, for a total of 31 damage. If I succeed on my DEX throw, I take only 15.5 damage rounded down, or 15 damage. It's one of the challenges for a wizard- Agile monsters can avoid potentially 24-odd points of damage, which is *huge* in 5e.

Posted Apr 1, 2020The page number here is wrong, "Basic Rules, pg. 241". The Basic Rules don't even have 241 pages. Fireball is on page 94 of Basic Rules for Dungeons & Dragons.
