You touch a dead creature that has been dead for no more than a century, that didn't die of old age, and that isn't undead. If its soul is free and willing, the target returns to life with all its hit points.
This spell neutralizes any poisons and cures normal diseases afflicting the creature when it died. It doesn't, however, remove magical diseases, curses, and the like; if such effects aren't removed prior to casting the spell, they afflict the target on its return to life.
This spell closes all mortal wounds and restores any missing body parts.
Coming back from the dead is an ordeal. The target takes a −4 penalty to all attack rolls, saving throws, and ability checks. Every time the target finishes a long rest, the penalty is reduced by 1 until it disappears.
Casting this spell to restore life to a creature that has been dead for one year or longer taxes you greatly. Until you finish a long rest, you can't cast spells again, and you have disadvantage on all attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws.
* - (a diamond worth at least 1,000 gp, which the spell consumes)

Posted Sep 1, 2020Well, we seem a bit close (in theory) to Caduceus saving his home. Maybe they'll pull a Scanlan & Taryon kind of thing.

Posted Jan 12, 2021A construct is not a creature, so unless it is a warforged, no I do not think so, sorry if this is really late

Posted Jan 16, 2021While right in conclusion, Nat_20 is incorrect in saying constructs aren't creatures. I believe it's more accurate to say that constructs aren't ever alive. They can't be brought back to a state they didn't have.

Posted Oct 30, 2021This is completely dependent on the DM. It can be easy to break the game economy by handing out platinum and diamonds and magic items like they’re candy. Or you could have a campaign where the party is constantly scraping together just enough money to buy one party member a nice magic item.

Posted Nov 2, 2021Would being decapitated make it so it won't work, I'm not sure, it is technically just a missing body part.

Posted Nov 19, 2021This would be a great spell for College of Creation bards. They can bypass searching for a diamond and just make one appear in their hand. This spell also conveniently becomes available for college of creation bards when their gold piece limit is removed.

Posted Mar 28, 2022Idk mine must be hoarders then. They somehow managed to rack up 15k silver and like 30k gold between all of them and have resorted to using a bag of holding as a change purse

Posted Aug 28, 2022RAW, if the target is dead for less than a year, this spell can be cast multiple times without the caster suffering negative effects, no? I will rule that way, but curious how others feel.
In addition, would this replace a limb that was lost before, and has since been fitted with a prosthetic? What if the PC wants to keep the prosthetic?
