You call forth a Dragon spirit. It manifests in an unoccupied space that you can see within range and uses the Draconic Spirit stat block. The creature disappears when it drops to 0 Hit Points or when the spell ends.
The creature is an ally to you and your allies. In combat, the creature shares your Initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It obeys your verbal commands (no action required by you). If you don’t issue any, it takes the Dodge action and uses its movement to avoid danger.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. Use the spell slot’s level for the spell’s level in the stat block.

I'm thinking you meant 2 hours, not 2 minutes? @wagnarokker
So, as written, I take it that the caster makes two choices, one for one of the Resistance types to affect themself, and the other for the type of Breath Weapon. Both of these choices must be made at the time of casting.
Everyone else I've asked in my group feels that there is only one choice (i.e., Choosing the resistance type also selects the breath type and vice-versa).
I feel like my perspective comes from reading the typical replies in the Sage Advice column, where they usually explain that if they wanted something to affect something else, it would say so.
Wondering if there is an "informed" answer on this?
No, I meant 2 minutes. We were discussing the free casting of this spell provided by the Draconic Sorcery subclass, which allows you to cast the spell without concentration, but limits the duration to 1 minute instead of the normal duration of 1 hour. Using the Extended Spell metamagic option on it in that case would extend that to 2 minutes.
Using Extended Spell on a normal casting of this spell would indeed make the duration 2 hours, but that's not what I was talking about in that post.
I don't think there's any official guidance on this other than the general concept that spells only do what they say they do; therefore, since it doesn't say there's a requirement that those two things match, there isn't a requirement that they match.
The fact that the summoned spirit is resistant to all the relevant damage types, not just the one you choose for yourself, does kinda support this though. Despite the name of the spell, you're not really summoning an actual dragon, but a dragon-like spirit, so it doesn't need to follow the normal rules for how dragons work. (The original version of this spell from Fizban's Treasury of Dragons was actually called Summon Draconic Spirit.)
What size is the draconic spirit? Edit: just realized it says “large draconic spirit” my bad
