Bard
Base Class: Bard

The style of the Red Mage is something only a select few can truly master, their blend of magic and melee often too much of a strain on the body for most to truly engage in. While other bards focus their talents on summoning the weave via dancing, singing or playing instruments, the Red Mage takes on a much more practical approach to combat by using magically-enhanced speech.

The magic they weave is born of intense concentration, explosive bravado, and superior diction.

Level 3: Bravado

While you aren’t wearing armor or wielding a Shield, your Armor Class equals 10 plus your Dexterity and Charisma modifiers. Additionally, you can expand uses of Bardic Inspiration whenever you make a melee weapon attack with a finesse weapon to empower your attack:

Corps-a-Corps. Lunge up to 10 feet towards your target as part of the attack. If it hits, the target suffers extra damage equal to the number you rolled on the Bardic Inspiration die. This movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

Moulinet. You can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to cause the weapon to deal extra damage to the target you hit and to one more creature that you can see within 5 feet of it. The damage equals the number you roll on the Bardic Inspiration die.

Redoublement. You can expend two uses of your Bardic Inspiration to gain the Extra attack feature this turn.

Displacement. You can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to cause the weapon to deal extra damage to the target you hit and reposition yourself. The damage equals the number you roll on the Bardic Inspiration die. Regardless if the attack hits or not, you jump backwards up to 10 feet back. This movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

Level 3: Dualcast

At 3rd level, your understanding of the schools of Evocation and Conjuration grows to complement each other better, the two weaving together fluidly like a single school. Whenever you cast a leveled spell from the Evocation or Conjuration schools of magic as a Magic Action, you may cast, on your very next turn, a spell of the opposite school as a Bonus Action.

You may use this feature an amount of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and this feature recharges after a Long Rest.

Level 6: Of White and Black

You learn two spells of your choice up to 3rd level, one of which is an Evocation spell and the other a Conjuration spell. These spells can come from the Cleric, Druid, or Wizard spell list or any combination thereof. A spell you choose must be a cantrip or a spell for which you have spell slots, as shown in the Bard Features table.

You always have the chosen spells prepared, and whenever you gain a Bard level, you can replace one of the spells with another spell that meets these requirements.

Level 14: Masterful Display

Starting at 14th level, you weave blade work and spell slinging like no other. Whenever you successfully Dualcast a spell, you gain the Acceleration effect. While under this effect, you can enhance one of your Bravado options in one of several ways :

  • You can add the number rolled on your Bardic inspiration to your AC until the start of your next turn.
  • Apply your Bardic inspiration die result a second time to the damage of one attack.
  • One creature hit by your Bravado option cannot take a reaction this round.

Once one of these effects has been applied to an attack, the Acceleration effect is lost.
