Heya, I've been making a homebrew subclass with a 3-option choice when you choose the subclass at level 3. Within each option of the subclass, I put in actions that each have their damage done level up alongside the class level by using the level override feature. I've been encountering 3 bugs already, the level overrides don't reflect on the character sheet, the area of effect option I have set to 10ft. is also not present in the character sheet at all even with the flag turned on, and the {{fixedvalue}} snippet I've been using to reflect the level overrides isn't working and is returning a "fixedvalue - Fixed value is missing" on the character sheet.
When you say “the level overrides don’t reflect the n the character sheet,” what exactly do you mean?
An AoE will only be present for certain types of action, but not all types. It depends on how you filled it out.
As for the {{fixedvalue}}, it depends on what exactly you are doing and where. It months instead be better to use a different snippet, or adjust how yours is set up.
Also, whenever you adjust or change anything in a homebrew, you must go back and re-save the entire thing using the main [SAVE CHANGES] button under Basic Information. That’s the only thing that will trigger these changes to push to a character sheet. It can then take up to 20 minutes for the character sheet to show the updates.
So for my level overrides, I have a fixed value of an action of let's say 3 damage at 3rd level. I set to override it to 4 damage at level 5, 5 damage at level 10, and 6 damage at level 15. When viewed at the character sheet, the attack will still read "3" no matter what class level my character is at. I was using {{fixedvalue}} to try to represent that fixed number right there as it should be changing as levels increase in the snippet section of the action. As for the AoE, I didn't know that, so thank you! I'll try looking into a way I can get that to work soon. Right now I believe, I set it as a 'General' action at the top when I 1st made it, and made it a bonus action.
For the fixedvalue snippet, try re-saving the action, the feature, and the whole subclass. Then you sit 20 minutes and check the character sheet again.
Just messed with changing the action to spell from general and that didn't affect it at all with allowing the AoE to show. As for the {{fixedvalue}} snippet, I tried resaving the action, feature option, class feature, and the whole subclass a few times, but nothing managed to fix it. It shows the initial '3' fixed value on action on the character sheet at level 3 which is correct. However, when at class level 5, the fixed value does not update to '4' and instead stays at the base fixed value of 3. The same goes for the higher level overrides as well. I suspect this is related to the {{fixedvalue}} snippet not working, as it appears the fixed value overrides I set in the first place aren't working.
Well, for the action with the AoE, might also need a range set, but not be set as an attack. To be honest, there are enough different things with that action for AoEs to work on them that I think only a Mod can help you.
As for the other action, the level overrides might not have been set correctly.
Post a link to your homebrew subclass so an actual Moderator can help you. It doesn’t need to be published for a Moderator to look into it for you.
Did you ever find the answer to this? I'm having the same problem for the fixed value only damage changing with level overrides (though if I have dice damage only as level overrides, then it does work).

The original post had a problem with setting level over rides for fixed values. In their words, “So for my level overrides, I have a fixed value of an action of let's say 3 damage at 3rd level. I am having this same exact issue and was wondering if anyone had found a solution. I did notice though that if I set level overrides to change a damage dice value for a subclass action (say 1d6 at level 3 and 2d6 at level 5) then this does work which shows me that I’m likely doing the correct thing for level overrides just perhaps there is a bug for doing it with fixed values only
No, its only fixed value (2), that goes up by 1 at 4 different levels.
It's supposed to be damage equal to proficiency bonus and since I didn't find a way to do this using the proficiency bonus I tried to set level overrides. Seems like it's not working.
Since there’s no actual damage roll required, you don’t need an Action to portray it. You can simply use a snippet to represent the damage, just use the {{proficiency}} snippet in the snippet field and it’ll automatically display the correct damage.
Sorry. Yeah, the Actions system was only really developed for stuff that has to be rolled. The system is designed to utilize the snippets to display nything that doesn’t need to be rolled. it’s just the way the system was programmed.

Only a “spell action” can have an AoE I believe.

I'm also having the same issue, is there a solution?
What exactly is your action supposed to portray? Is there a die roll attached to that fixed value?

Ya I guess “just don’t do it” isn’t really the fix I was looking for haha. But ya, I could just do something different instead.
