Hi there. I have a character that is a Ranger/Rogue 7/3. In a game earlier this week, I wanted to have him 'climb' up something but couldn't find the skill/feature that I thought I remembered being there at one point, that said my character **has** a climb/swimming speed. Today I just went inside the character builder and sure enough I found what is missing!! Under the Deft Explorer (Tasha's additional skills) once your Ranger is level 6 they gain, Roving; which grants you 5 extra feet of movement/walking speed as well as a climbing and swimming speed equal to that as well!! Now that I've found that it actually exists, and isn't something my brain made up, I can't find any mention anywhere on my actual character sheet that reflects this information. Just looking at my sheet alone, it would appear that my character does not have this ability. Is this a known issue and is being fixed? Is there something that I need to do in order to fix this? I have the box next to the skill already check marked. Please help and let me know any additional information. Thank you.
You need to have access to Tasha's on this site, either by purchasing it or by having it shared with you via a campaign with Content Sharing enabled.
Then, in your HOME | Preferences, set the Optional Class Features toggle to ON (right, red). Now you can go to your Class page in the Character Builder and, under each class, there is an additional tab: Optional Feature Manager. Go to the tab for Ranger, and click in the checkbox for Deft Explorer. Then, go to the Class Features tab, and you can see the optional features and make selections as applicable.

...Oh, wait, you say you already checked the box? Check your Class Features for Ranger in the Character Builder and make sure Deft Explorer shows there.
It should also show up in your Features and Traits tab on your character sheet with Canny and Roving beneath the choices you made for Deft Explorer. You'd also be able to find your speeds by clicking on the Speed box at the top of your sheet.
I notice under your features it lists deft explorer, but not it's subsequent features; not sure what's causing that. Maybe try removing deft explorer, or optional features and adding them back? I also wonder if Boots of Speed could cause anything?
I also have a multiclass ranger (the 2nd class does not matter: I have a ranger/fighter and a ranger/rogue and both have this issue) and I am still experiencing.this bug. I'm pretty sure multiclassing causes the issue. For me, removing the feature and adding it back does not work. Same for adding a level and removing it. It's now permanently stuck at non-rover speeds. Edit: yes, it worked quite fine for 8 levels BEFORE I multiclassed.

Thank you, and looking forward to solving this issue with you all.

Try bumping your character up a level and then back down, and see if that sorts out the character.

Amazing--that fixed it! Thank you! :)

I have a similar issue with copying the character (Ranger Hunter) to do some what-if changes.
Levelling up does not help but levelling down and re-applying the Deft Explorer optional feature solves the speed issue.
