Should the following configuration set the base AC of a homebrew race to 9 instead of 10?
Modifier Type: Bonus
Mod Subtype: Armor Class
Ability Score: DEX
Fixed Value: -1 (i.e. negative one)
Is that intended to be when wearing armor, or just when unarmored? I ask because most creatures has an Unarmored AC calculation of 10+Dex (with a few exceptions like Lizardfolk and Tortle’s), while each set of armor has its own specific calculation of #+Dex like leather, #+Dex(max2) like a breastplate, or just a flat # like plate. That Modifier you’ve posted will do two things:
It’ll reduce the PC’s armor by 1 whether their wearing armor or not.
It’ll add the PC’s Dex modifier to their AC in addition to the normal Dex bonus to AC.
If all you want to accomplish is reducing their Unarmored AC calculation to 9+Dex mod, then this is the Modifier you’ll want to use:

Leave the Ability Score dropdown blank since the system will automatically add the PC’s Dex mod to their Unarmored AC.

Thanks! It was mainly the second option I was trying for. Basically the race are large size so I wanted to give them a -1 to their base AC.
