I'm looking for some help in creating a homebrew race variant. I am currently working on Dwarf, but will move to some others as development progresses. My wife and I are making a homebrew adventuring world that is rife with magic and we wanted every character that was born in this world to have access to a Cantrip on creation. I also wanted player characters to be proficient in the use of this Cantrip. I made the racial variant and I was able to make the spell attack modifier apply the proficiency bonus with the addModifier >> Bonus >> subModifier >> Spell Attack and then adding in Proficiency Bonus as the extra modifier. It worked great and showed up on the character sheet correctly. When I added a second modifier that was the same train, except subModifier was now Spell Save DC, the spell save DC on the character page never reflected adding in the proficiency bonus. Is there a different way that this is supposed to be done? I'm not exactly sure how to make this work. Maybe I need to house this all under one specific racial trait? Any help would be great. Thanks!

Those modifiers don’t do what you think they do. You don’t need them at all, what they do is increase the spell attack and save DC, so if the player makes that character into a Warlock, all of their spells will get that boost.
All you actually have to do is create a racial feature that grants a cantrip (or a choice of cantrip) and designate which Ability Score it uses and the character sheet will automatically calculate that stuff.
