There seems to be a bug, I've used the modifier replace damage type, damage, and the modifier melee weapon attack. But nothing seems to change the number of dice when it's equipped to a character. I don't know if this is something I'm doing wrong or an actual bug.
Is there any way to get it to roll more dice? Because inside the modifier section it has a dice count area, and that doesn't seem to work. I'm trying to change a rapier from a d8 to a d12 just add additional damage.

I’m confused. You said two opposite things and I’m not sure what you mean.
“I'm trying to change a rapier from a d8 to a d12”
“Is there any way to get it to roll more dice? [sic] just add additional damage.
Which is it?
Also, you seem to be intermingling questions about two different things. Your asking about the damage, but you also asked “Is there any way to get it to roll more dice?”
So half of your question seems to be about the homebrew builder, and the other half seems to be about the dice roller.
There is currently no way to alter the base damage die for a weapon in any way, not even to add an additional one in such a way that it displays as “2d8.” I’m not sure what you’re seeing, but on my character sheets, when I look at the attack table under “Actions” where the attacks get listed, the Flametongue Rapier shows the normal 1d8 piercing damage that a regular rapier has, but then just to the right of it I can see the “notes” field for the weapon and it shows:
+2d6🔥 , Martial, Finesse
When you look on yours, do you see that? That is how any additional damage dice you add will always be displayed.
So, you can increase the damage to 1d8 + 1d8 with
Modifier—>Damage
Subtype—>Piercing
Die Count—>1
Die Type—>d8
And on the character sheet it should show as:
Name
Reach
Attack Bonus
Damage
Notes
Rapier X
5 ft. Reach
Your attack bonus
1d8 *
+1d8 *, Martial, Finesse
(The asterisk I am using to represent the “piercing symbol”)
i don't think it matters maybe just answer either or both........
Well, considering that this thread hasn’t been used in almost a year, and that it was marked as “Resolved,” and that I answered everything as thoroughly as humanly possible, I’m not sure what you’re telling me here.
I’m having the same issue. I cannot add nor change the damage dice for a great club.
DId you read Sposta's posts above? You cannot change damage dice for a weapon. You can, following Sposta's instructions above, add dice, although they will show up as a "note" and not in the base damage die column.
If another weapon uses the damage die you want to use for the great club, start with that as your homebrew template and change the other weapon traits to match what you want.
Hey don't know if this helps, but I just hit this same issue and the way I got around it was to create a custom action. I'll probably create a magic item or something as a placeholder in the inventory or just not have the regular weapon display as an attack.

You can't change a weapon's base damage. It is planned for the future.

Sorry, I'm not trying to rapier from a d8 to a d12.
When it's displayed as an attack on a character sheet it does't show the extra damage.

Computer. Extra die like a bonus 1d8 of a damage type.
I have tried replace damage type, damage, melee weapon attack.
Even frostband and flame tongue aren't displaying their extra die in attack section on the character sheet.

Hi, welcome to the thread where every answer has been: "that isn't a thing you're supposed to be able to do (yet)."
