Not only for distance but weight, volume and size too, please put the international units for the rest of the world, I'm tired of converting manually distance, weight and size all the time. These converted values have been used in translated books for a very long time now so the info should be easy to find by the development team.
1 case = 5 feet = 1.5 meter.

You'll likely need to get Wizards of the Coast to publish an official conversion for that to happen. I'm not saying you shouldn't ask, but you need to ask in the right place! :)
As far as I know, the language localised versions of the books are published by a 3rd party under license. I don't have any visibility of that license/contract though, so couldn't tell you the terms and whether that's something that we could get on D&D Beyond.
So you can't change the content of the licensed material, that is the problem? That's unfortunate!
Could there be a script going over the text, just in time, when reading? Would that be allowed?
Small thing: I didn't get a notification that people answered in my thread. I get notifications for every thread I ever posted in, but not for one I created myself? That's why I didn't answer :)
There are some very talented people making Chrome extensions that add functionality to the site. Maybe one of them could offer something like that as an option in the meantime. There are 3 threads that I'm aware of in the General Discussion section.

Yeah that could be accomplished with browser extensions. I am from Brazil so we use metric system, also I've been working on a chrome extension. I will think about this feature.
Well BadEye just mentioned this on the stream: link.
I was just going to say, BadEye said that they will likely be implementing any official translations by WotC in the future. So if WotC has done it officially, it will be done at some point.
So it boils down to being a translation issue. I would have hoped to be something else! It's only math!
It would be great if the extensions would support on-the-fly conversion, even if it would be not 100% correct all the time. Is there any way to use extensions on mobile? I'm playing with my android tablet.
I'm not sure they understood what we need, perhaps it is because I spook about the french version having the metric system. Anyway, I thinks also that a chrome extension looking at the value and automatically converting them is the best solution for now. Or becoming a genius in math because of all the conversions on the fly.
Greetings from 2019 here :-D Sooooo nothing happened now? Still that ... great.... imperial system which utterly absurd. Sad that DnDBeyond wont do what so many people wish for :-(
I'm pretty sure this would have to be authorised by WotC, not DDB. Beyond presents the content exactly as delivered by Wizards and their license doesn't let them modify it (to the point that until it's errata'd, errors in the book are displayed on the site).
Changing D&D to metric would be an intensive rules level change because 5 feet (the standard unit of distance in D&D) doesn't convert nicely into metric (it's 1.524 meters), so a non-trivial amount of work on Wizards side of things would be required to convert things into a practical unit.
As for using imperial systems being utterly absurd, well, it's a fantasy game that uses somewhat fantastic units. I use metric myself and think imperial is a terrible measurement system, except within games like D&D where it doesn't really have a meaningful impact because it's all an abstraction, at least for me. It doesn't matter if a monster is described as occupying a 10 foot square or 3.045 meter square, I'm still gonna describe it as "about as big as a car" or whatever.
I would love the ability to switch to the metric system for a book!
This would be a big advantage of digital over analog.

The French version of the DMG and PHB have the conversion. Aren't they official ?

Maybe ask on Tomorrow's Dev Q&A livestream?

And I cast Heroism on the community.
Well BadEye just mentioned this on the stream: link.
edit: it seems that the video is not available anymore on twitch so the above link is not working. I will update when available on youtube.

How do you get a one-armed goblin out of a tree?
Wave!
Missed the twitch, I will have to wait for them to publish it on youtube.

Oh well, 40ft are 12m, here we go ;)
Not a translation issue, I play in English but need the metric system like a lot of people here.

I don't feel it is a translation issue either. But it seems that it is like that for Curse.

You might want to try an extension like "Everything Metric" if you're struggling with imperial in DDB: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/everything-metric-auto-un/hknjpaididhfgeocegbacehlnkofjoni
tl;dr - this isn't on DDB to change.
