Hey, I know there is most likely multiple threads about this sort of thing but i havent seen any recently.
Was just going to suggest a virtual table top like on Roll 20 or even Roll 20 Intergration with the books and whatnot purchaced through DnD beyond also available on Roll 20.
Going to include a poll mostly for my own curiosity.
If anyone has info on this also please let me know.
I would honest prefer DndBeyond to make their own standalone VTT. They already have the easiest build a character system in my eyes, I would only assume the VTT would be as easy for up and coming GMs.
I really do love DnDB and the character editor and all that. A VTT on this platform with all the module integration would probalby make me buy much more source books and adventures here (so that they are integrated). I am a DM for a group of friends who are new to DnD and we use DnDB for our characters and all that. If we could have full integration that would make things so much easier for us, instead of switching from roll20 to DnDB forth and back.
Is there a way to get in touch with a wide group of users for their opinion on the topic then if multiple people want a VTT, take that to the DnD Beyond team? im sure they have to know people want it at this point.
That being said, DDB is already working on their approach to a VTT, it's on the roadmap. So I don't think people voicing their desire for one is somewhat moot; they know people want it and they're developing it as fast as they can.

Okay thanks, just thought if they knew the users best wishes they may prioritise it but if there is already a voting page and whatnot then all is well.
I'd love to see a dedicated D&D 3D virtual tabletop.
I'm imagining 3D miniatures using models from the physically printed miniatures by WizKids. I assume they're already modeled in 3D software...so converting to a virtual tabletop seems straightforward. Animations would be great...but I guess that adds another level of complexity.
As a new DM I'm just figuring out the small hassle that is having bought my stuff here over the last year for character creation and wanting to use a VTT elsewhere. I will check out that extension, but I also hope DnDB makes their own VTT. As someone else said their character creator is the best and I hope a VTT by them would be equally as awesome! Till then I will just have to upload assets from EGtW which isn't too bad so far.
So I wish that there was a good VTT to use with the ipad. In a perfect world it would be an app that has a a link like when a player joins the campaign on DndBeyond. This would give a “room” and access.
Once in the DM can have a large overview and each player could see their part on their own tablet.
My best idea is how Neverwinter Nights worked. A DM could take control and add things all on the fly.
DNDBeyond is fantastic and I just wish this was on their road map for sooner rather than later. Judging by their recent article on playing D&D Online I get the impression that it doesn't seem to be that much of a priority.
If you’ve already purchased a physical copy of the Player’s Handbook and a digital copy on D&D Beyond, paying for it a third time might seem excessive. If you think the ease of automation is worth $30, then go for it! Otherwise, you can make do with free tools and your own mental math.
Once again, that's purely my thought stemming from sentence. I know the team is working on many improvements already and to that I say keep up the great work! Thanks!
Given everything going on in the world these days, I think the devs are probably kicking themselves that they didn't make a VTT more of a priority. I know I would have bought a ton of stuff a couple of weeks ago when everything started going on lockdown if they had a VTT. Instead, I tried Fantasy Grounds, hated it, and just ran blind online.
I'd rather they focus their efforts more on their core features. Don't get me wrong, I play online and I like the Encounter Builder and Tracker, but I would rather have had those devs working on extending homebrew.
The reason why I'd prefer they don't work on a VTT is that it is less D&D specific. Their character builder is so much easier to use largely because it doesn't have to support any other RPG. I use MapTool as a VTT, that provides me with the functionality I need: maps, tokens and an initiative tracker that broadcasts to players. And I can use this for the PF2 game I'll be running soon as well. Besides, I have enough dndbeyond tabs open as it is :p
I mean, how long have some of these features been in the pipeline? If they switched over to full VTT development today, I'd wager that a usable VTT that can compete with what's out there now is still years away.
ETANow, if only they would make the map images more VTT friendly, I'd be a lot happier.
The thing is that if they fully integrated the VTT with DNDBeyond you could (possibly in theory) have one tab open that has everything right there ready to use.
As a DM everything that is unlocked through purchases could be drag to the map and drop in place. The maps could be used right out of the adventure modules and integrated with a simple click. The encounter builder with be implemented for all the homebrew content. Chest and content could be placed right on the map.
What I perceive the VTT through DNDBeyond to be is a directed VTT that is used for DND and not all general RP games.
Okay thanks, just thought if they knew the users best wishes they may prioritise it but if there is already a voting page and whatnot then all is well.
This is a request that has been steadily climbing up the ranks. It was #2 for the longest time and just recently broke into the #1 spot. More upvotes means higher priority (if customers are listened to).

Want to see Virtual Table Top like no other before it built within DnDBeyond.com? Upvote the feature request. It's 2nd highest voted so far:
NOTE: You will need to setup a zendesk account (which is not your DnDBeyond.com account, the team uses this 3rd party software). It's easy to do and your votes are needed!
Man, sure would be nice right now in the midst of quarantines and social distancing... You're missing out on a lot of revenue right now, Wizards.
Wizards, however, doesn't own DND Beyond only licenses content to DDB. So, if you already bought the "books" on DND Beyond, Wizards has already gotten their cut. Wizards does license their content to other VTT such as Fantasy Grounds and Roll20 which are both doing gangbusters at this time. So, Wizards is not really missing out on any revenue right now.
Now, you could argue that having a VTT on DND Beyond would increase sales on here and thus increase income in that fashion. But I don't think it would vastly increase the moneys headed Wizards way.
I never said D&D Beyond was owned by Wizards. Business, however, goes beyond such trivial things as ownership. Deals are where it's at!
You don't think that combining a VTT on D&D Beyond "would vastly increase the moneys headed Wizards way"? For real? I don't think you realize how many people would flock to D&D Beyond with such a powerful combination.

That’s the dream world speaking though.

Vote here for an interim solution for homebrew classes:

Wishful thinking and hopes and dreams?
I know it is way easier to say then do.
