Just noticed this one today with two of my characters. I used a long rest and it reset one characters Max HP from 39 to 11 and my second character's from 31 to 15.
I had this issue before as well. If your players set their Hit Point Type to "fixed," the long rest feature might inadvertently recalculate their maximum hit point total. If you had your players roll for their Hit Points or allowed them to have the maximum amount, they will need to set their Hit Point Type to "manual." Once they do, have them go to the Class tab and hit the Manage HP button to reset their rolled hit point amount.
Yeah this just did this to two of my characters in my campaign. I just checked their characters, and they are set to "fixed." How can they just go back to normal??

If you have HP set as Fixed, that means that you're using the Fixed value. For example, a Rogue gains a fixed 5hp+CON for each level up. If you have your players roll or use any other method than the Fixed method to determine HP you have to set it to Manual. Then, when you're on the level/class page, you can open up the HP window to add in the rolled/chosen numerical value. The sheet automatically calculates your Constitution modifier, so you don't also add that-- just the rolled/chosen value.
Here are two picture examples. The first one is a Ranger using Fixed HP, so the Ranger automatically gains 6hp per level up (starting with 10 at level 1) for a total of 28 at level 4. Then, plus CON modifier per level.
This is my Druid, in this game I roll for HP. So I got 8 at level 1 as is standard, and then rolled for the remaining HP each level. Each time I level, I roll a die and add what I rolled into the box.
Thanks to this thread I finally figured out what was happening with my HP each time I took a long rest. Unfortunately I also had to take her back to level 1 and then to level 5 to reset the HP systems to manual.
Probably important to note that the Override just totally doesn't work. This does qualify as a bug right? I just spent hours going over everything exhaustively to make sure it's all "just right" and now have to flush the whole thing and reset to level 1 because even the override wouldn't fix the HP when rolled manually. So aggravating.

The HP fields are all working as intended. Can you link your character sheet and let me know what the HP should be and what it is reverting to?
The HP override ios meant to be for temporary effects (like a Wraith's life drain attack), it is not something that is mean to be permanently applied to a character.
After resetting and building it all the way back up to the level 8 character it should be I realized picked a duplicate language on the warlock, which is the third class. After changing that it then reapplied the 41 pt override I had used an hour earlier before dumping all my work and building it back up from 1. It just seems sketchy. It's doing wonky things like adding numbers an hour later.

I can see it is set to Manual/Rolled HP - with a total of 65 rolled over 8 levels + 32 from Con (4 x 8) - giving a total of 97. I'm not seeing any override on the sheet currently.
The Rolled field is what should be updated each level - adding to that total the number rolled on the die - the con mod gets added by the system automatically.

Thank you! Resetting my character to lvl 1 and then bringing them back up to 10 finally did the trick!
