I'm in desperate need of help with the mobile app on iOS. Every time I load the app and try to open a book I've downloaded the page is extremely dark and unreadable. If you turn the brightness all the way up you can just barely read what's on the page and hyperlinks show up as a basic blue but you can't make out anything else really. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app once before and it worked temporarily but then after a new update I think it went back to this. I don't want to have to do that again let alone after every update because I'll lose so much that way. On top of having to take a large amount of time to download all your books again there's no way to save and import my bookmarks anymore meaning all the things I need to run games that frequently come up and I need to reference will be gone.
Update: I just looked at my iPhone XS Max that was my previous phone and it works just fine. It's running iOS 17.0.2 even as well so it's more up to date than my newer current phone. I really don't know why this is happening or what the issue is.
When you open the book, in the upper right corner there are three dots. Click those and select ‘Display Settings’. From there you can adjust font size, line spacing, alignment, and notably, your display style.

While this does sort of allow you to read the book it’s not an actual solution to the overall issue of the books being messed up and looking nothing like how they’re supposed to be formatted. I guess you could say it’s a bandaid for the issue but it’s still a gaping hole that I need to know if there’s anything I can fix or something is just weirdly wrong with it on this particular phone.

I never got the reply to this, so I apologize for the delay. I am not really sure what the solution is then aside from updating your iOS. I have an iPhone 14 Max Pro running the latest software updates (17.1 as of this posting) and it works fine. Considering your more updated phone works, that may be the root cause. Why are you not updating your iOS? I ask rhetorically more than anything because you might have a perfectly good reason to avoid critical security patches on hardware that has software support until 2028. Unfortunately, it seems you will need to decide what is more important to you; keeping an long outdated iOS or having a functional app.
